As per model thread;  @ecm 12z the cold doesn’t abait/leave our region through the whole run!! Then we have sign of Greenland retrogression!!! February is ice month.. and the finer details are-nearly all that need scrutiny...

Nice steamer setting up to my NE and heading this way. Snowing lightly outside now, awaiting a bit more hopefully!

Nice little covering in Newmarket now seems to finally be a little shower activity in our part of the world !

anyone know a good snow depth site. I tried to upload to weather quest but doesn't seem to be updating. I have 10cms here now

Amazing what a couple of miles can do, I have, maybe a dusting, and im just down the road

Snow almost all day in Burgess Hill, virtually nothing settled.

Ours started snowing late morning then continued all day but again didn’t amount to any laying snow ☹️ Very frustrating isn’t it

Absolutely. I've seen snow falling when the sky is blue and the sun is shining. I'm sure that someone way more clued up than me can explain the mechanics behind it but I guess that the snow falls high up, gets blown about in the higher atmosphere winds and lands miles away.

It happens when Upper Winds are very strong and the snow is actually coming from a Shower Upwind of you, sometimes it can be over 10 mile away - Has happened here before in Convective Easterlies as well

Blizzard condition here in Margate. Been snowing most of the day.

That reminds me when I worked at Margate Delivery Office, must’ve been 1990/91. I had to cycle out to Garlinge in a blizzard to start the delivery. Thought I was going to die of hypothermia. Luckily nowadays I can retreat to my van.

Manston now up to 14 cm.

Only recently matched in January 1987 as a total I believe.

Crazy.

Looks like I’m in for a pokey streamer which is edging this way and I’m pleased to say looks quite meaty on the radar now... seems to be gaining strength as it goes. Fingers crossed would be nice to at least get a covering tonight. I’ve heard that it’s given a covering down the road in Newmarket

Your constant moaning over the years tends to not be very accurate either buddy. Try to chill out and be a bit of a happier person mate. I'm sure at the end of the day your excited for any cold snowy weather that may happen!

Still something falling which is starting to settle lightly on the bits which couldn't stick earlier.

Going to be very dicey underfoot tonight I think.

Let's see if we can squeeze a bit more out of the next phase further inland.

Edit : think it's just drift as the sky is clear

Predictive Dutch radar suggests ppn pepping up and a bit of a pivot westwards

If correct should help those places in the corridor of doom (Brighton up to Ipswich)

Dont know if the dutch radar is any good - but the ppn does seem to be backing up a bit in the north sea

It looks like north Kent will be the favoured spot. Could be some really big accumulations there I suspect.

I'm loving this cold spell. Snow, Ice, whatever its my cup of tea as a weather enthusiast. I'm old enough to not let the 'let downs' bring me down as much as when i was a child in the 70's

Snow settling here now and just keeps on coming! Wonder what it may look like in the morning. Some outputs, and indeed support from the radar have it continuing all night. Convection from Hunstanton to Den Helder!!
