Starting to snow properly now. Looks like a possible wash streamer developing!

Really settling again here, courtesy of the renewed pulse of precipitation! Nice sugar dusting on all surfaces

Moderate fine snow again. Colder too at -1.4C

Started up here again too, quite moderate small flakes.

For my fellow E Sussex friends, an indication of how localised this is, is that we’ve had a couple of cms here and two miles west, Abbots Wood, Berwick way, virtually nothing.

Radar being a little odd today as we are now having consistent (very) light snow in Ely - but nothing showing? Either way - not complaining at all! A sign of things to come I hope

Similar in Cambridge - had dandruff snow blowing in the air most of the afternoon despite the dry radar echoes. Nothing to really sing and dance about like most.

Light to moderate snow with a few heavier bursts since 7am. We have about 7-8cm in all.  Not bad for the coast. Hope others get luckier with streamers later

This is a good sign - I suspect this is the start of the convection which has formed showers to your north starting to work it’s way south. There may well be a fair bit of this over the next few hours where the snow seems to start without anything showing on the radar (given the 10-15 min delay on the radar vs current time)

I think the issue has been the failure to get the temperatures right - the track predicition is OK but the temperatures were widely predicted to be significantly lower from the same track, which makes me wonder about the data used.  The upshot has been that many have seen falling snow but not the accumulations that were implied by those who said (vehemently!) that the one thing people shouldn't worry about was that it wouldn't be cold enough.

thing is, it has been cold enough from 7 or 8am, it the 2m temp has been below freezing, however the ground isn't, as well as my weather station I have a thermometer on the patio, that is reading 0.5 Celsius even though the 2m temperature is -1 and the DP -2.   The warmth of the ground from last week has meant that snow hasn't settled much on tarmacked areas and even on grass/mud the amounts have been compromised.   The actual conditions (bar the late start) have been fine.  Either way in Maidstone we have had enough for people to build snowmen and go sledging.  Probably about 5cm on grass areas, maybe we will get a more comprehensive covering tonight, but a fair amount of the precipitation is getting 'rinsed' or split by the Downs..

Typically as the streamer sets up the wind veers slightly and out comes the sun with plenty of clear sky heading this way. It does look promising with the stratus gone and some patchy cumulous zipping through.

Moving on, a very bland afternoon with large slabs of stratus, however just some signs on interest with clearer skies appear to the south east of here and more significant cloud cover north west of here that appears to be producing a little snow.

Sun is coming out in Somersham, temperature is dropping away now, not seen a flake so far, I imagine we'll get something before next weekend.

Keeping an eye on a possible line of showers around the Kings Lynn area that are heading inland. Hoping they will last. What are your thoughts?

Radar showing the dynamics are changing a bit with heavier ppn developing over the North Sea, and an increase in ppn around The Wash.

Slightly colder air at 850hPa also filtering in, particularly into East Anglia.
