Interesting watching the Euro satellite view, seems to be a plume sprouting off the main low which is feeding our SE snow.

As very soon i'll be moaning

So please mother nature

Help me as im down

I'd love to build a snowman

And call him parson brown.

Soz folks, the all nighter is taking it's toll ha ha

Tiny flakes of varying intensity and rain-like-ness (made up word!) falling for 4 hours now on the SW London/east Surrey border. Absolutely no chance of settling. And I'm losing the faith frankly. It's just wet and cold out there. So disappointed.

I've heavy grauple now lol not sure what that'll do to laying snow, come on convection, be fair.

It has started to settle on the grass now a bit more. It's definitely trying. Just need it to carry on. Its been more snizzle for us for a while now but we had proper flakes earlier.

Great day so far.

6 cm so far , not complaining as it's the best since 2018.

Walked dog and had snowball fight wth wife and son.

Biting wind , sideways blizzard.

Hasnt stopped since 7 this morning.

Took a while to settle I think because of yesterdays rain and temps. Will freeze up nice tonight though..

Temp 0.0c

Still snowing moderately..

Don't give up.  I remember one time in Northampton when it was raining so heavily and the ground was soaked and then it suddenly turned to heavy snow and then started to settle in no time eventually having a snow covering of a few inches.  Just because the ground is initially wet does in no way mean heavy snow won't settle.  As long as the dewpoint goes below freezing.

It's starting to settle more on the grass now. How are you guys doing up there?

Then there were those who refused to accept (or possibly even check) what was clearly shown to be happening to Darcy last evening by satellite imagery - it was moving away from the SE and noticeably so, yet that fact was denied by many.

You've made this same comment 7 times over the past 12+ hrs.

Darcy was named for its impacts on The Netherlands.

The area of low pressure responsible was always modelled to pump moisture into the E and SE UK.

Look at the radar grabs from 1am this morning and 1pm just gone.

Anyone from the norwich area? What do you think our chances are as the day unfolds? Been a massive disappointment so far!

Yeah im in the Norwich area. Very disappointing. Not sure why they have extended the amber warning in Norfolk. There must be something substantial later.

Looks like the whole precipitation band is decaying in 'situ'

Perhaps there might be some oomph added to it later?

Starting to feel we might be be better off clearing the whole sorry lot ( I know some have seen acumilations) this is from an IMBY point of view, and get  some sunshine and snow showers with dew points and temps that support settling snow.

There seems to be a huge amount of marginality with this system, and seems to be acting as a buffer to the 'true' cold waiting in the wings?

Afternoon, popped in from the Yorkshire thread. Did storm Darcy deliver your snow? How’s it going around South London? Is the band moving slower than originally forecast?
Thanks and I hope you all get plastered something to watch during the boredom of lockdown I guess
