More snow to come in the UK's SE sector according to the Dutch Radar

Is that likely for east Anglia or kent, or the whole se?

Only a little, mainly on grass and some other surfaces. Nothing on concrete.

I think we can't call it a total bust since the amber warning has seen already 8-10cms judging by the reports and there is a reasonable chance of more showers coming in tonight and tomorrow to add to that.

BUT

for the vast majority of this region its very much been underwhelming. I never honestly though so much of the region would be sharing my green grass that I will keep this week!

Crazy!

PS - even the front edge is starting to decay again. Not seeing much westward push, all thats happening is the stronger area is moving into the less favourable region and decaying. Evventually forcing will move westwards and the decaying will slow or stop, but there may not be much left by that point!

Hi Everyone

Dan at WeatherQuest is trying to keep a database of Snow Depths from this cold spell. Would as many people as possible if you have time upload your depth to the following link.

You can update it hourly if you want from your Postcode even if you have nothing at all just upload the depth, it gives Dan a better idea of where snow has fallen etc (Much like his Lightning Strike Maps in the Summer)

I love your enthusiastic TI, you always give it your all. But come on mate, very rarely do we get what you predict. Even you've got to admit that.

That’s a bit premeditated /premature.my friend.. when my last two posts “clearly state “ that there is clear delay.. we’ll come bk to this tomorrow morning.. when I’m confident things will be a little different

Just had a bout of graupel pinging off all surfaces during the (still generally light) snow here. Convection  - it's kicking in!

Yep I had that, just wish the convection was of snow lol.

Several hours of light snow with occasional brief moderate bursts here in Surbiton but not even a hint of it trying to settle. Hoping the more supportive air for settling reaches here soon, all a bit frustrating so far ☹️

Think we may have to wait for darkness for sticking snow in many areas. Just not coming down quick enough!

It does call into serious question the huge build-up to this, with countless models being run and re-run, all to little avail.  I am certainly no expert but a quick look at the infrared satellite late last night showed me that 'Darcy' was missing us - why couldn't anyone more knowledgeable than I see that real-time stuff?!   Today, so many people are still saying that "it will come", when it clearly won't.  I'm not, by the way, saying that we aren't going to have a very cold week - I think we are - but the hyperboly about record-breaking snow depths, red warnings and so on has been baffling.

Got back from my 10-mile walk and jumped in the shower, when I got out it really pepped up and is now starting to settle on the grass and roof. We did really well on the 24th in Dorking so happy with whatever we get this go around.

It definitely won’t just be a coastal event. Not sure where you’re getting this info from?

So far today it seems to be mainly hugging the coastal areas and a little bit inland but no where near as what was originally envisaged

I never expected a huge amount here from this system, we were always on the western edge, however I did expect more of it to settle. Definitely has been a delay to the coldest air which is what is making it a damp squib for many. If there was no snow melt I reckon we’d have a good 2/3cm’s lying given it’s been snowing constantly, ranging from light to moderate, since about 9am.

Hopefully showers and steamers kick in.

Yeah just in the amber and it’s been expanded just beyond Norwich this morning. But not settling properly and melting a bit

So what's caused the stall of, ahem, Storm Darcy from the extensive covering the models were leading us to believe was a done deal? Thus far it's quite the bust for most under the yellow warning.
