The 06z EURO4 is not accurate for my area (Wandsworth, SW London) in the short range. Indicating around 2cm of snow depth, whereas in reality it's too warm to settle at all so far.

Currently snowing lightly, no sleetyness since about 9am.

euro4_uk1-45-6-0.png

That’s doesn’t say snow depth ....it says total cumulation of snow to that point ..... ie. all the precip that’s  fallen as snow if it settled ....

but it rarely does for lots of reasons ....

some heavy  stuff now coming  over

We're getting whatever Ipswich get today, Bill. So far, so good. Think we've been lucky compared to most of the region. These heavy spells have travelled right over us.

Is there a point of snow until it gets to 0 degrees though as not settling anywhere that is above freezing on not high ground? When do we expect the temperature to start falling. Been monitoring all day and not much changing.

It's been a funny old day: the air temp is clearly <0C; but it can't be that far below, because whenever the sky brightens, the snow that's frozen onto dark surface starts to melt... the icicles don't.

I am awaiting reports from likes of Great Dunmow and Chipping Ongar. If they report heavier snow its edging my way.

Bugger all in Stansted but feeling much colder!

still snowing good covering of snow and we seem to have a mixture of dry powder snow and wet flakes, wind still very gusty and temp -1 before wind chill, grandaughter in portsmouth messaged just now to faint sign of snow there, hope she gets some as she was quite excited for an adult for her.

What are the chances the main bulk of precipitation is going to move out or rotate west?

Seems like i'm slightly too east currently.

I'm wondering could it be that the ground is still warm from yesterday's 7/8C and its still retaining that heat because the cold hasn't had enough time to penetrate & so the snow is melting on impact? My technical knowledge is very limited so I could be talking absolute rubbish here but I'm just scratching my head over it not settling on pavements or roads at all thus far...

2cms level snow on the garden table.

Considering our location, I think we’ve been pretty lucky tbh so far, judging by reports elsewhere.

It’s at times like this when I realise just how I’m really not meteorologically in eastern England ......in an easterly and when the family want a day by the sea !

Did anyone stay up all night waiting for the snow?

does feel a little disappointing overall - was be expecting a little more than what we got when I woke up. Even now it’s just dust on the wind

It’s getting there now, still not settling all that much on the road however.

Well it’s nearly 1pm now and still nothing at all in west London (other than some light snizzle) any expectation that this will change?

Has turned more beefy in terms of snowflakes here a bit further south, settling on patio furniture now but still struggling on concrete sadly.

It's been trying to settle here just up the road in Hassocks for the last hour but still big wet flakes. But noticeably colder now so could be some hope for us nearer the south coast!!

Eastbourne is light sleet now after big flakes. I'm hoping someone can make me happy and tell me Eastbourne will get battered later/tomorrow?

Tiny flakes of varying intensity and rain-like-ness (made up word!) falling for 4 hours now on the SW London/east Surrey border. Absolutely no chance of settling. And I'm losing the faith frankly. It's just wet and cold out there. So disappointed.
