Medway crew - streamer incoming now so that should pep things up even more & yes settling is taking a while atm but the temp is still dropping so that should help too.

Fingers, legs and eyes crossed.

2ish hours in from when it started to settle. Still coming down heavy and the winds blowing it all around, should be a nice build up by this time tomorrow

The temperature of the surface is most important, needs to be zero.

Indeed, as I pointed out yesterday, it isn't below feezing very widely hence the lack of accumulation away from the heavy stuff in the far east.  At 75m here in Surrey we have been at +0.6C for a while and it's wet.

Indeed, and away from the SE.

Including the SE. The key is modelling won’t accurately pick up showers and streamers. It raises the stakes for later and gives more of us a chance for something more substantial.

Seems to be increasing in intensity now in Ipswich, very dry snow and wind is getting up, nice Sunday this!

Heavier band definitely heading west now

Ebbing and flowing here, but nothing heavy enough to provide a covering. Still not breached the totals from the marginal stuff a few weeks back yet.

Bit of icing sugar on the grass and in nooks and crannies, but nothing on the pavements.

Hopefully this afternoon will bring a bit more this way and beyond.

I’m just east of Sheppey in Whitstable and just tiny flakes in a strong wind. Nowhere near what I was expecting but plenty of time left for improvement.

Back in the clearer slot with sunny spells now. The wind is blowing quite hard now (Gusts approaching 40-50mph). A bit brisk out there.

BBC forecast was quite bullish earlier about a more easterly element developing later tonight and into Monday pushing snow showers all the way across to Wales and the SW potentially. One to watch.

Oh I think there will be a push westwards of lighter snow showers, I think I highlighted that multiple times earlier on, this is due to a low pressure between 850-500mbs swinging around back east which effectively whips the airflow at that level into a more ENE direction, which should push it more inland to an extent.

However the models really don't do much with them and the whole lot should be weakening pretty soon and devolving into a thinner convective banding which will give some snow, but nothing too interesting.

Hence why I keep using the word dusting further west. Somewhere may bullseye a 1-2cms.

Snow getting a bit heavier now. A nice covering on the grass but the snow is allergic to the concrete. Temperatures stubbornly refusing to drop to 0. Stuck at 0.1.

It’s all gone a bit meh over London in the last hour or so, however radar returns south of Norwich are intensifying and moving SW:

The heavier radar returns near Ipswich are also pushing further west than before:
