Temperatures are falling from the east, snow settling on coastal areas of Essex & E Kent now.

Those inland seeing snow but not currently accumulating very well, the switch is coming. Next hour or two.

You are so lucky. It is all very light snizzle, here in the northern outskirts of Chelmsford. Most disappointing and it appears to be brightening up a bit now. It was a good job I didn't tell my 3 year old grandson it was going to snow as he would be very disappointed.

Kind Regards

Dave

Yh Great Wakering got clobbered by a really heavy band - Might go out to my old MOD Haunt in the next few days where it drifts up. Socially distanced of course

Being generous Id say we have an inch of covering,  but its still very light snow, that looks more because of the wind blowing it about. Im sure most would be pleased to get what weve had, but its not what id call proper snow, its snizzle and its annoying. As soon as you try to walk on it, it turns slushy.

Looks like the Met office warning will be fairly good, the amber zone doesn't look huge but where it does snow for a prolonged period the snow will eventually add up. Remember it will snow on and off in that amber zone for the next 24hrs at least.

Sadly the game was up for us lot further west a good 24-36hrs ago when the models shifted slightly further east again.

As I said, if your west of C.London, be prepared for a cold but more or less green (or brown if you got mud!) week rather than white.

We've got a good 2/3 inches now. It always looks less on pictures doesnt it! Hopefully a fair few hours left of this

Lost the intensity now, along with the big flakes. What had started to settle is already drip drip dripping away. Really need that temperature to drop a bit more and for the intensity to ramp up again ir this is going to bust hard.

Keep the faith Dave

If any bands settle over you it really goes full settling in under 30 mins

In reigate, it’s snowing reasonably (maybe 4 or 5/10) but only sticking to hedges a bit etc

current temp: 0.6c, dp -0.8c - really need to get the air temp below freezing

Aye, nae much more than that here. 10-15cm? I don't think so!

For those concerned to the west of the heavier band of snow that it has stalled or moving away, read the tweet and comments on it below, may reduce some fears. Certainly running radar loops this morning the heavy band is edging west. So could see heavier falls further west this PM.

Cheers Nick, Getting heavier here most  surfaces covered. Any estimation of how long it will continue to snow? All day.

We have had the lightest of snizzle for the past 30 minutes of so in Gu35. Looks like someone is grating polystyrene.

I hope this isn't the end of the snow for later, seems to be a gap forming at the back of the front :(

Picking up in South Norfolk, been snowing since about 8am but light and the wind is whipping it about. Its sticking to cars etc but on the ground it sort of sticks then melts. I'm more surprised at the wind speed than the snow!
