For those concerned to the west of the heavier band of snow that it has stalled or moving away, read the tweet and comments on it below, may reduce some fears. Certainly running radar loops this morning the heavy band is edging west. So could see heavier falls further west this PM.

It looks like it's retreating back East slowly from the northern side unless I am mistaken?

What a disappointment for south Essex! Orange zone you say!

I know such a shame. Not what I was expecting. Hoping if the snow keeps falling over the next day/night and the temp continues to fall then it might settle better. Also got a good few days of below freezing temps and possible snow showers forecast for us.

Met office warnings now being updated. Primarily for snow in the form of showers until Wednesday. That's all down the eastern side for those in the yellow zone. With the caveats that as they're showers, some places will miss them.

Will this help with streamers?

Pretty sure by the time they or if they set up we will be sub zero across all the SE and settling  will be instant

It's snowing here. It's only light and blowing about in the wind but yep, definitely snow.

Fair play to the METO, they've got this bang on so far for my area.

Same problem here, just won't settle on pavements and roads.

It is here, but we now have kids playing with it. So who knows. Only a few mm down lol.

Looking very wintery here in East Suffolk. Switching between light and moderate snow. Temp -0.1C

Hopeful the snow may intensify a bit later

We have been having on and off snizzard all morning which has slowly covered most surfaces except roads and pavements.

The heavier band looks like it's now approaching places further South west near the coast.

Well a disappointing start to the day, however intensity has significantly picked up over the last 10 minutes or so with bigger flakes.  Settling on cars and grass but not yet on pavements.  Current temp is 0.9c

It’s bizarre as some have a covering. My neighbours pavement does but ours is only a sprinkle. Same with road, some parts have a slushy cover others nothing!

The wind is blowing it about, so landing in dips and crevices, but it will build.

It’s now February 2300, we’re in tier 700. Worthing has finally got to a centimetre of snow, after 279 years of continuous dandruff “snow,” much to Matt Hancock’s disgust, as any more than 0.5cm is only permitted in the first 650 tiers. Gavin Williamson is keeping the schools closed in all tiers as a precaution, for “health and safety” reasons.

Moderate Snow now. Starting to settle in places.

5/10 Intensity.

Temp still 0.8C  DP -1.1C

The current  edge of the  "umbrella" of  precipitation is now just west of Gravesend heading slowly westwards. There is a heavier stream heading SW from Clacton to West Sussex.

We were under that "Heavy" band, it was a pile of naff! Hardly note worthy! I was most keen about this spell of snow all night, and after being under it, and any snow after, light rubbish. It's a bust

That’s also true! Hopefully in the next voile of hours ground temperatures  go down to enable it to be fully covered!

ppn has been all snow here for over an hour, and i'm a bit closer to the city centre. Find it hard to believe it was raining out there.

Yep definitely no rain. It’s all fairly light snow at the moment. Giving a sugary dusting on some surfaces.
