Pavements and roads going white now Chartham, but 250 ft asl i think that still makes a difference, even a bit of elevation.

Bizarre. Yes that’s true. Hopefully in. A while it will here

Settling everywhere in my part of Medway now so you should be good soon

How strange!  Also Rochester and although it is snowing nicely and has been for the last 45 mins, there is nothing on pavements and roads in my bit - although cars and grass getting a covering.  Just shows how it can be so different

Pretty big flakes coming down heavily and settling on grass and bushes. Let’s hope this is just the start...

Not a bad morning here, sun is popping out in between the clouds.

Had some very light sizzle in Guildford about 20 minutes ago.

At least there was never any pretense of anything other than dry grounds anyway here.

Ps, vaccine 1St jab is done.

DP -0.6 and Temperature 0.0 here in Maidstone.  Settling on grass and cars but not on the roads.  Guessing it will gradually ice over as temperature drops below freezing as the day goes on.  Ground would have been relatively warm before today which is part of the issue.  Moderate snow for couple of hours here now.  Other than the late start the Met Office have been spot on for the amber warning area, don't forget the amber warning is until tomorrow and could well be extended.. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I've just woken up and pulled my blinds up, its not a winter wonderland yet but with how much is falling right now and with the wind i know that will happen very soon

Very Disappointed at the momemt. It's just like someone has tipped a bag of rice !and the wind blowing it around.

Hurry up and go darcey, most likely get more from showers.

Think Darcey has really fooled all the top forcasters.

I had more two weeks ago from a moving front going from West to east.

Temperature really needs to be -0c or below for snow to settle and not melt.

Also, the heavy rain during the night didn't help!

Temp is 0.7 and dp -0.4 when I woke at 7am there was no puddles, is it coz I'm literally 500mtrs from sea wall?

The heavier band is definitely, albeit slowly, moving west. You can easily see it on long radar animations.

You need slightly heavier precip or wait for colder uppers.

Morning Kasim bit of a flop all round regarding how the models initially played this out , seems the colder air was delayed longer than any model forecast . Mind you last 72 hours they have dialled back on expectations

hope all good in your neck of woods good to see other regions pop in and say hello

Why is it not settling its lovely big flakes too!! *stomping feet

It’s because the last few days have been mild and ground temperatures are still above zero. Hence why it will settle on leaves but not on the pavement. As the day goes on that should become less of an issues as the temp continues to drop away.

100% - its moving, just VERY VERY slowly. Since 8am, its probably nudged 20 miles at most, but it is moving.

With regards those readings Paul, in our neck of the woods, what do you think they need to be before any of this settles ? I did always wonder if the snow would have trouble settling on saturated ground but I am sure it is much more scientific than that. Personally, I think it can carry on like this all day and none will settle but if the flakes become bigger and heavier then I'm sure that would give us a better chance.

Think the Water Table is soooo high its just not got a chance to settle, that or get stuck under some yellow on radar for about 30 mins. Colder weather still to come in think Uppers get to -11c around Middday

Latest Harmonie run . Happy with that especially as it won’t pick up on all the convection.
