This could go down as the Biggest Bust of them all

Absolutely shocking modelling from every single Model, when your expected Temperature at 4am is 5c too high and your dewpoint is 7c too high something tells you something has badly gone wrong

Think I said I would retire and leave the weather forums if this failed well looks like I might be on me way out

This will go down in History though bigger than THAT ECM

Yup. Temp didn't go lower that 3.3°C here: it was colder yesterday morning ?‍♀️

On a final note...at least I've popped my 'It's a bust!' cherry.

That precipitation radar is hopeless it's not snowing even 15 miles from the Thames Just rain like the last 13 hours.

MO have me at >95% chance of Heavy Snow right now.   Not a flake in sight.
It’s pointless even trying to predict weather if after £££££££’s of pounds that’s the best they can manage.

There will be plenty of convection around for prime spots, especially by tomorrow evening, fully expect to have a Kent streamer in play by then.

This event has a whiff of the Feb 05 fail thus far with regards to the front if anyone who has been around long enough remembers!

Edit - should still be fine for Kent, SE Essex and Suffolk though, watch for a pulse between 6-8am.

Remember that well - it is a very similar set up (unfortunately) of the PPN coming out of Europe and being blasted to bits by the stiff wind and transpiring to ‘a few flakes in the wind’ for most, Beeb and meto were convinced We were in for 3-4 inches, most got barely a sprinkling.

I reckon once the uppers drop low enough it’ll be all about the convection but currently I’ll stick my neck out and say it’s fair to say the preliminary band has failed...

Doesn’t mean much but the heavy snow symbols are vanishing on the MO for here.

If you think the late night crew are unhappy if things don’t improve over the next 3-4 hours or so the thread may need to be locked as the scenes won’t look pretty!

My main problem is the the lack of cold, some models still show rain till bloody 11AM!

Darren

Slightly concerning that all locations up and down the east coast have positive dewpoints even in the North East ?

I dont like the look of this one bit

Could be a huge round of applause to Ian from last night coming here as he might have spotted the alarm bells ringing very early with how Darcy was acting around 10pm last night

Chill out, the weather will do what it pleases and no-one can change it.

Despite your annoyance, the folks who said to trust the radar were absolutely bang on correct - if it shows nothing then that's what you will get.

No no no, you don't get to change what was said. I will quite happily go and pull out some quotes if you want. But, I was told not 5 hours ago that "everything was still on track", "just watch the radar as it still shows the snow heading our way".

And there was a lot of sarky comments about impatience and a lot of high 5ing each other about how awesome they were at this weather thing.

Well what do you know, it turns out that the "useless" MO app knew more about the weather than they did!

Can see from the radar that the PPM just isn’t going to hit Kent.
Most of it dumped in the sea already.   It’s gonna be wet out there and cold in the morning.

Dont know how accurate or up to date those Wundermap observations are, but almost all of England and Wales is above freezing according to it.

They're mostly personal weather stations, everything from a dodgy thermometer stuck on the side of a house to pro-grade stations. They will be up to date (my station uploads every minute) but as for accuracy - they should be in the rough area, especially on a windy night time. (On a still summer's day on the other hand...)

As xcweather (which uses only pro-grade or official sites) shows, it really is above freezing across most of the UK right now.

Do you not think this is premature? Snow still forecast for most of the next two days and temps will soon be safely the right side of marginal.

Sub-zero temperatures now put back to 08:00 on the Met Office site. Was 1AM, then 3AM, then 6AM, now 8AM. Not a good trend!

i think his point is clear. i think some people overreact when the weather doesn’t go the way they think it’s going to go. while i understand disappointment, some members are more prone to sulking than others, as well as throwing out the entire possibilities of what could happen to. i advise everyone to stay calm
