Still heavy rain here near Maidstone,  the ground is so waterlogged.... if it turns to snow I find it hard to imagine it will be able to settle....

as long as the lower air layer is around 0C - it won't have a problem.

Temperatures and dew-points continuing to fall slowly across the region. Originally, most of us were expected to be at 0C around 2am, but that's been pushed to around 6am now.

00Z UKV and Met Office forecasts due before 3am, lets see if there are any changes

It’s currently 0.6C in the Elham valley, so a fair bit colder than that map implies.

It will settle.

As long as it's cold enough which itt's meant to be it will settle.

It's definitely really really cold in kennington south london. I don't have any fancy weather measurements but the cat just can to get in bed with me so you know it's COLD because he's an antisocial sod

It’s snowing yay , lovely to see , I’m happy

Blimey. Just rain here but I know the low pressure will have a curved cold undercut.  Whereabouts are you Marie? Higher up?

People that worry about whether or not snow can settle on wet ground clearly have never seen it happen. I have -- it's like a million snowballs being pelted at the ground. The puddles are the last to go, but they, too disappear.

Hopefully surface will freeze quickly when temps drop.

Met Office hourly forecast for us has been upgraded. In Maidstone we've got double snow symbols almost unbroken 4am today until Monday lunchtime. Then lots of snow showers through the week. Exciting times :)

Staring to get more sleet in the rain here just on the edge of the heavy band to my south. Going to get a couple hours sleep and be up at 4am

This shows how the curve of colder air undercuts those to your east.  What’s you temp Marie and dp if you have it?

Like I said to another member. If it's sleeting in folkestone or Dover then it will be a blizzard in Hawkinge or Whitfield

It's definitely all snow here now, break in the wind, and could see flakes floating down. Should reach lower parts of Dover soon.

Can’t sleep so just popped outside briefly, can’t see much but feels like sleet so I guess we’re in the transition.

Let’s see how things look when I wake up
