I have attached the associated charts, both btw show 'actual snow accumulation by the end of their respective runs'

Expect UKV is being slightly conservative further inland.

If it shifts just slightly west, I'm in the money haha

No surprise the metoffice have downgraded the forecast for my part of East Hants from rain during Sat evening till midnight or so then turning to "heavy snow" for a few hours then light snow virtually from 4am and all day tomorrow. Now literally no snow forecast for next 24 hours for here. Typical!

Though the NW radar showing rain/snow literally on my doorstep just to S in Petersfield and South Downs a short while ago and the rain seemed sleety when I checked 30 mins ago.

Just have to see how this pans out!

Hmm, slightly sleety element within the rain here it seems. Like @lawrenk says, fairly early!

Mrs Dave just stuck her snoz out the window and said “it smells like rain, not snow”!

thoughts?

It's a mystery to me mate. I didn't  think rain or snow smelled of anything other than water

Think I will get some sleep, not looking to turn snow anytime soon, but will hopefully wake up to a wintry wonderland in around 5-6 hours!

Can confirm sleety rain here, its on the turn!

Intensity in the system over the north sea is really building now. Still a couple of hours until it reaches here but will be worth the wait

Calling it a night weather watching. Latest here in Maidstone is a steady fall in temperature with mostly rain but increasingly sleety during heavier bursts. Keeping to the script so far.

Temperatures beginning to fall more rapidly now - Snow line is about halfway across the N Sea.

Precip should begin to pep up increasingly as colder air triggers convection within the main band.

Glad I’m not going mad! Checked again and definitely the case, if anything more sleety. It definitely feels colder but not that much, so it’s a bit surprising.

Well after another day on here. I’m still none the wiser to what might happen tomorrow. I get a sneaky feeling that there may be some surprises.

Looks about where it should be to me, perhaps a touch further north than some models.

It's probably roughly reached it's western extent, the band will tend to pivot and move NE>SW before breaking up to be replaced by showers/streamers tomorrow afternoon.

Some info on the met office web site in respect to there icons. If the correct conditions to snow and it’s 80% or more chance of precipitation you get two snow flakes if 70% or less it’s one snow flake. So the way the site/app is set up you can’t have heavy snow if there is only 70% chance of precipitation. So very very poor guide on intensity of snow fall.
