Sounds like a line from the alternative version of Pride and Prejudice

Thought it was that new DVD that's out (Porn & Prejudice)!

The panic on here feels like the evening of 1st Feb 2009. No weather apps back then but worries that "The skies are clear!!! There's nothing forming in the Estuary!!! It's too cold to snow!!!" That turned out to be the most epic snow event I've ever witnessed with a 24 hours Thames Streamer. Relax people.

Temperature dropped to 3.6 here in Locksbottom and steady rain.Latest radar from Holland looks encouraging and who knows how far north and west it will go?Just 10-15 miles further north and West  will make a huge difference to how many receive snow in the SE and in grand scheme of things is a small change.Going to bed shortly and hope to wake up seeing the snow falling(and settling).

good night, good luck and stay safe

Anyone know why there's reports of snow in Kent even though dew points are around 3°C?

I'd presumed it'd be cold air undercutting but not reflected in DP.

Perhaps evaporative cooling?

With 'Darcy' expanding but still moving E/SE as a system, unless its expansion is faster than its movement away it will miss the UK entirely at the current rate of progress.

Stop this nonsense

Enjoying the snow reports from the fringes and heights of the region. Bodes well.

Temperatures gradually on the fall.

A bitter feel to a gradually increasing Northeast Wind.

Finally a FI set of charts come to fruition.

Enjoy the ride.

Best of luck to all Southeasterners.

See you all on 'Christmas morning'

Brave of you, my friend. I’m looking at the next ten hours, not ten days, but your news sounds positive

Nothing will die out, coldest still crossing north sea, will generate further precip as it does so whilst dragging in colder air from the continent.

For what it's worth just look out to check for sleet, none yet, but the wind has definitely grown colder. It's coming.

18z AROME really has eased up on totals, even further east. It has no where in our region above 10cms by 00z on Monday and most areas are considerably lower than that, widespread dusting across the region. ARPEGE somewhat similar though it does strengthen showers around early morning on Monday in N.Kent.

Based on the trend tonight though, I'd not bother staying up tonight unless you are in N.Kent or maybe E.Suffolk and SE Essex.

Much better to just get some sleep and see what you wake up to. A large majority will be green, or maybe with a dusting.

Thats what I will be doing anyway.

How do you know a cold spell is about to arrive?

1. The model thread turns into when is the breakdown coming thread

2. The regional thread turns into into its not going to arrive thread

I would love to respond with emoji's to some of what I've been reading in the last hour but making enemies is generally a bad idea!

This is the beginning of a rare event for us and I understand the anxiety over it going wrong at the last minute. I guess it's ok to be fearful of that but getting irate with each other is just so pointless and frankly it's killing the mood!
