Roger J Smith in the mod thread reckons it's looking good for us in the south east and thinks the precip charts are being conservative on totals and wouldn't be at all surprised to see spots easily get 20-40cms...he added a BOOM! by the way.

When Roger is saying it and you are quoting it that has some credence ! I think there is huge potential for streamers to set up and deliver over the next couple of days. Beyond that staying bitterly cold but unsure on precipitation.

The slow transition is tedious but I just keep telling myself it will make it all the more exciting & rewarding when it does finally turn to snow and I am SO FRICKIN' EXCITED!!

That’s not creeping towards Chelmsford ! You need to look in the North Sea to see what snow you may receive if any

Some stuff of the north sea is creeping Into the coast now, hopefully just the beginning

Right, going to bed as the cat will be waking me at 4am to go out, and the nippers will follow not long after.

Normally, I hate him for this. Might do me a favour tomorrow.

Good luck all! Should be a good night and couple of days to come

Is that a little mini ramp from you there Froze????

I try to keep 'grounded' particularly with models but when you get such synoptics now we're at T6 and less as we're about to experience the East Coast/Kent very rarely gets away without receiving at least a few inches...more questionable further west.

Roger Smith is a wily veteran on this site so if it's a BOOM!...Some surprises! Yes a Ramp.

Yes but this is a now acting event. The radar is building precip further north than the hi res modes have been showing.

Great signs as it brings more of the region in the game.

Heavy rain with occasional sleet and the odd hail interlude thrown in here, im Bracknell. I am well resigned to seeing these events play out to the east of me in these set ups. But...i expect even here we will see a slight covering in the morning.

One has to remember the fragility and now casting of an event like this. Several years back (2010 I think) a certain channel low and last minute red warning gave our area 30 odd cms. It originally had it further east and south of us. So for those pent up on it not following expectations...please dont be surprised!

I'm literally on the boarder of how far this system gets regarding snow, a few more miles East/North please! It may make delivering peoples groceries interesting!

Total snowfall accumulation from the 18Z run of ICON.

Harmonie and Hirlam still the best for western parts of the region getting in on the action on Sunday and early Monday.

Anyone know why there's reports of snow in Kent even though dew points are around 3°C?

I'd presumed it'd be cold air undercutting but not reflected in DP.
