Looking beyond the next day or so - could be some decent events that come "out of the blue"

In theory the winds should align quite well for a Thames streamer. Doesn't mean it will happen and it doesn't mean its going to become a 09 or 91 redeux at all, but its an option that is on the table if your looking for a possible real wildcard.

Definate trend towards lower numbers of snow this evening though, even further east to an extent.

PS - higher ground may well be starting to see hints of a change over now, I suspect locally Halsemere and Hindhead might be starting to get sleety.

I think you wont be waiting long for it to be snowing 'over you'

Sad drive from Wales where it was 2.5c to South Hampshire where it's 5.5c and raining

Hopefully these temps drop before the rain clears totally...such a waste.

I’m just south of you at Sandy. Hopefully it’s on it’s way.

Not much left to come through per the radar but a Brucey bonus to start the cold spell. Good signs for our region!

Good evening all,

So here we are, we've arrived at the main event, gone through the ticket gates, found our seat and now eagerly wait for the show to start!

Firstly, I'll hold my hands up and admit I was a bit quick to write off this cold spell after a couple of bad runs mid-week, it's been an incredibly frustrating winter so far with so many no show events. Now that we're a few hours away from this event, I feel I can now relax knowing that I will see at least some snow probably tomorrow afternoon once it eventually settles. Plus, we've got a few days of cold temperatures.

Tonight for the warning zones it'll come down to how quickly the transition takes place; bring it forward 2 hours you've got yourself another few centimeters, push it back 2 hours you're playing catch up all day Sunday.

Some suggestions that the low is further East and/or not as intense as modeled, but let's face it nobody really knows how much will end up on the ground!

I know I'm going to struggle sleeping tonight, especially when that pitter patter gets quieter and quieter! Probably won't be a footer event, but still very excited!

Good luck for wherever you are (Y)

the  dutch  radar  is out standing

Thanks Bill. With that 'zoom in' on Holland and with East Anglia in view you can better see progress. From leaving their coast around 07.00, by 21.45 the frontal precipitation is half way across the North Sea and making good progress towards us.

Snowing now in Dunstable- we are 500ft up though in the Chilterns - but about an hour earlier than expected going by met office.

for our West Ham friends posting earlier - I thought Fulham were the better side tonight and deserved to win the game. You have had a terrific season though for which you deserve great credit.

Am I right in saying that any early snow being reported on here already is not that from Darcy? remnants of the batch that moved west/south west earlier?

Any darcy snow should start right on the east coast? Maybe Great Yarmouth area?
