Love it when the forum is so busy.  Learning (slowly) how to read the charts....i'll get there.  Thanks to all that give us the knowledgeable updates.  Few G & T's tonight and hoping for breakfast snow watching, sledging at lunchtime and home, happy for more snow  watching at dinner.  We'll  see x

Not necessarily.  With a near-stationary front it can be surprising what a difference can be seen in a few miles.  I recall travelling home from work to Epsom on the train in January 1987 and the snow depth at Worcester Park was around 6cm, whereas at the next station, Stoneleigh, it was easily 18cm!  The snow at WP had been steady but light to moderate all day, whereas a tad closer to the front at Stoneleigh it had been heavy all day.

But you can’t forecast that line - that’s the point I’m making. Pointless getting irked at a line on a forecast or model cos it won’t pan out like that ....

Heavy rain here now. Apart from the snow, ice could be a big hazard tomorrow. Lots of surface flooding.

Am I being extremely desperate clinging on to the BBC weather forecast as it shows continuous light snow for Hampstead between 3am and 9pm usually they’re not very accurate but I’ll trust in it now haha

why does snow make me go so loopy ?‍♂️

If it snows half as much as it's rained, I'll be laughing. Been coming down most of the day

This gives me reason to be a little more optimistic. Nothing suggesting any heavy snow and certainly not persistent snow but perhaps a few cm. Light snow to start in the early hours.

The benches next to river Thames in Old Windsor are already submerged!

When I was young I always had snow on my birthday. Well at least twice.

I hope you think yourself lucky. I never had snow on my birthday.  Not even in a club in Croydon. And my birthday's in July.

Hi peeps

Rain here in Walthamstow. Any news on where the snow has got up to now last time it was Sheffield . Looks like a long night for many of us I will certainly have my patio light on.

Still got 4 or 5 hours to go till we start seeing maybe things begin to change  wintry around our region  and we see reports coming in.unless that time has changed . I know the app was saying midnight before but now that's moved to 3am.
