I’ve been trying to work this out on all the maps . Epsom / Chessingon seems right on the edge but I can’t work it out completely.

Same, borderline stuff...

Does anyone know if the London Heat Island effect is playing a part in models showing a shadow of low snowfall to the south and west of the city?

If that’s the case - is there the possibility that this is overcooked, and due to the pandemic/lockdown there’s going to be less heat thereto disrupt the flow?

The lockdown probably increases the heat island as more people are at home (apart from the city centre itself) and are therefore using more heating.

Erm ?? What ???

If this really does go pear shaped 24 hours out then im blaming some secret government weather adjusting technology.

This is basicly going to come down to looking out the window or going for a wonder in the hills and hoping for the best

I know people say apps are useless in this situation but the Met Office one is showing less snow tomorrow here as time goes on with each update. Will it get this far inland?

Trying to remember a snow event in which waking up with a full covering of 10-15 cm feels just as likely as waking up with nothing at all...

Had one with 30cm while I lived in Croydon, Feb 2nd 2009. It can happen. It was snowing before I went to bed, but had no idea what I would wake up to. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same.

The BBC's take on the snowy weather in an item specifically about what they are, depressingly predictably, calling 'The Beast From The East Two' - just bung in a picture of fog; that'll do!

Chances here in Cambridge?

Few days ago the front was forecast to intensify and push up westwards right across E anglia,  however now looks like we’re only just on the edge of the precipitation.
BBC forecast also stated that there’s uncertainty on how far West it’s going to reach.

You could view this either way of course.

So just going to expect nothing now so any snow will be a nice surprise.

Just got in..

Checked the app to make sure I'm not dreaming.

BBC weather app has now upgraded and extended the freezing cold up till Sat.

Not seeing plus temps till friday and then it's only 1c..

Loving the idea of lying snow for several days not just 1 day slush fest...

Anyway pray to the gods this all happens.

I'm like a big kid today waiting and watching...

Also the only weather app I use on a phone is radar.

The rest are useless as they’re only as good as the data that’s fed in to them.

You can’t work it out at all to the level of precision you are seeking. The system/boundaries might easily be +/- 30 miles from where they are modelled right now. Counties - yes, counties plus N/E/S/W - yes, postcode areas - possibly, postcode districts & below = no chance. In truth it’s a radar/now-cast situation from this point.

I finished my daily litterpick near a farmyard a bit earlier. I called in on the farmers in their office, they're good friends of mine. I asked, "So are you all ready to clear the lanes, we're set for some severe weather?" (Farmers are asked by Highways Depts to clear country roads if they get really bad). The reply, "Yeah we're just fitting the snowplough now."

Excited!

No idea - like to think you East London crew would get some. Maybe more of a struggle in the west of London though.

Still looking good the further East you are. Don't worry about the apps or models too much anymore, its a complete radar watch. Just a tiny shift in the low pressure by say 20-30 miles will have a big difference. The low pressure coming up from Spain to the low countries is definitely a rare setup for the models to process. Fingers crossed everyone sees some of the white stuff!

People need to seriously stop getting hung up on these useless weather apps!

There’s more than enough information and charts etc on this thread which shows what is forcast. These apps have no human input and will change about 50 times a day!

Just enjoy what is coming later tonight ☃️

If there's anything to be concerned about it'll be investigated big time on here.... That's why I favour reading these discussions over the tv forecasts in situations like this. Weather apps should be banned!!

Just posted on the MOD thread with pictures, but the ICON-EU 09z run is slightly further NW and produces a little more snow compared to its 06z run.

If I watch the Met office weather forecast then the data I’m receiving is being put across to me with human interpretation.

For example it may snow or it could reach here etc.

An app just works in black  and white, without the grey areas that so often come with the chaotic nature of weather.
