Ah I miss the Essex streamers, getting a bit jealous now but definitely overdue some decent snow there - enjoy! Looks like we're supposed to be on the periphery now here but then that worked out well very recently last time I saw that! Here's hoping we all get a slice of the snowy cake this time. Have fun everyone

18Z GFS is insane.  -23°C air temperatures over Germany on Friday.. with some cold air bleeding into the UK. Pure eye candy at this stage but interesting to see it modelled.

Anyway roll on Sunday, feels like we've been talking about this for weeks! Will be nice to see the snow finally falling ❄️

Been a member for many years but generally only visit when there is snow on the horizon to read predictions and thoughts on potential, especially from the folks who (unlike me!!), can interpret the various models.

One name from the past I remember posting frequently was Steve Murr but not seen anything from him unless he has changed his username. Is he still around?

SHHHH We arent allowed to say that name anymore, he got banned

I’m no expert. But I’m in Crawley too, and it’s looking good IMO.

12z AROME already upto 10-15cms by 13z on Sunday and plenty more showers packing in.

30-40cms locally down in N.Kent if that sort of rate keeps up for a long period of time.

once winds shift ENE again late Monday that area will shift upstream to give usual Thames streamer locations a decent amount of snow though too early to know how strong any streamer will be at this point, especially given there will be frontal cloud perhaps coming nearby on Tuesday from the SW.

How much do you see falling in Dartford and Gravesend?- my work and home locations?

Same here I lived in Essex till  I was 19 years old, saw all the classic events 1978/79  86, 87 and 91

The only thing about being West is it’s sometimes better for frontal snow, but too dry for Easterlies.

Indeed Sparky. And they are currently doing a post mortem on the cold spell that has not yet arrived.

What they bickering about now? Can’t even be arsed to look. I’m camped in here until at least Wednesday.

It feels like the night before a holiday or even Christmas eve, I'm that excited. I just watched the BBC weather video on their site - so much white and its all over me!!! Does that mean home schooling will be off as surely its a snow day on Monday

Nope!!! . We are all WFH and home schooling. But we can go out at lunch and have some fun!

I read somewhere that the vast majority of apps use the GFS. does that mean most of yours are showing exactly the same thing?

Seems every winter I download another hehe

bbc weather (ecm), Met office app (ukmo), Weather pro (ecm ), ClimaCell (gfs), dark sky (gfs),  the windy app ( uses all the models) to name a few lol
