The times this happens before a freeze are numerous, today feels like Spring in the South facing garden.

Gorgeous and very welcome after the gloom of January!

Latest Euro 4 very much in line (and probably an influencer of) the met office warning areas

2-5cms widely, 10-20cms for Eastern parts of Suffolk and Essex along with Northern Kent - and that's only through until lunchtime on Sunday....

I'm starting to get a tad twitchy. The 'edge' looks a bit too close for comfort!

I was living in Heybridge , and had just passed my driving test the Oct before.

I was seeing a fella in bradwell on sea, and told my dad I was going to drive down there.... in all that snow.

needless to say I wasn’t allowed, for a huge b****climb for even suggesting it.

the road from maldon to bradwell on sea, once past latchingdon, is a bit remote and bleak...and flat! The drifts would have been ridiculous.

Live up near a Danbury now, rural and high up , so I’m hoping for some decent snow this weekend.

I was in Braintree at the time, I remember my friend from Maldon said it was at least 15 inches deep there.

Yet again we see the extreme moderation of UHI in London. Not much in the way of lying snow on that chart.

Thats yesterday's 12 run

I am not sure if I am or not. I seem to be on the line. Where are you?

I'm Tile Kiln just off Galleywood Road - Chelmsford is our nearest point though, which will be somewhere central I guess?

Danbury is in the Amber but Boreham isn't, so we're about as close as it's possible to get.

Yeah, based on the UKV snow depths by 00z Monday, would have expected an orange finger/sausage to stick further W/SW around the south of London - maybe they may extend tomorrow if the models settle more on where highest totals could be. There's still some variation between UKMO GM / UKV and GFS, EC and ICON. EC more conservative with snow amounts away from the Amber warning area.

Shuld stil be a good few days in our location though, especially for you with an extra 100m of height on me.

I am hoping for 10cm as a miniumum in all honesty - I have promised the 7 year old now!

Thanks.

That would surpass the minima we had here in 2010, in fact it could be the coldest I've recorded in my 20 years of recording weather.

It was a lot, the fact I thought I could was purely lack of experience in bad conditions , and of bad conditions, would guess many youngsters will try themselves this weekend.

‘tis spooky it’s 30 years and we will likely get another blast.

Sunday is my sons 25 th birthday, so a memorable one for him.

That's an old chart from yesterday

78-780UK_axr7.gif

That's a bit better, but still only 3cm in central London. It could be at least double in places like Epping Forest I suspect.

It's amazing how moderative UHI is.

Indeed Pete. I think a lot of us will be hoping for a bit more of a push North and West when it gets to the reality of the situation....

Notice the Stamford and Rutland area looking to come off good. They always have done well catching the wash streamer on an ENE flow and more elevation.
