Would be interesting to see a full map of predictions vs final totals from around the region!

I'm going for between 7 - 10 cms here when all's said and done.

Good guess.. I think people with some altitude might get more.. Plus details of showers streamers will almost be a now cast thing..

Cast our minds back to 2018 I think it was when we had a big area of light PPN dump 2-5cm across a large part of London and the south east that wasn't on any models..

Absolutely stunning run and with ECM upgrading too surelt were reaching a consensus on the jackpot zones Sunday-Monday BBC forecast looked awesome also mentioned it continuing into Monday which matches these charts pretty well!

Could be a decent spell for us in the SE.

That’s not taking into account the potential of a streamer setting up Monday into Tuesday.

Gosh I look like I'm right on the western edge of the precip on Sunday, a slight shift east or west makes a huge difference IMBY between getting in with the fun and basically getting nothing. Looks solid for those in EA and Kent who have thus far this winter been lacking on the snow department.

Regardless of where that ends up there is good signs of decent convection working inland and streamers are a pain in the rear to forecast for the models too far out but the airflow does look pretty close to ideal for one to form at some point and with the wind direction shifting around that will probably be a moveable feast.

Absolutely, part of the fun with convective set ups is you never know until the day!

Reckon those who get under a streamer / decent train of showers could top out around 20cms.

Not quite the outrageous totals being mentioned elsewhere last night though

Morning all,

Hope I find yourselves and your Families, well.

I think we can now be satisfied, after viewing the 00z Model Runs, that we are on the cusp of a Cold and Wintry spell.

Also, we've reached that stage were we can start to consider, Snowfall distribution, courtesy of Snow Streamers, etc.

With that in mind, I'd like to post a link to a Thread I started in November 2014, entitled U.K. "Snow Streamer" events.

It focuses on these "Snow Streamers", that occur in the S.E. of our Region, when the ingredients are favourable to produce these events.

Including a Video clip of Thunder Snow, near Dartford, during  the most potent "Thames Streamer" I've witnessed (Feb. 1st/2nd 2009).

Heard that rumble of Thunder here in Lee, some 13 Miles to the West of Dartford.

See link below:

UK "Snow Streamer" events. - Weather Discussion - Winter - Netweather Community Forums

Regards,

Tom   ❄️

P.S. Apologies, having just read through my "Snow Streamer" Thread, I realise it included the rest of the U.K.!! Doh.

The clues in the,Title Tom.

Seems a bit iffy that.. I would expect much more around the wash ETC and more widely in the south .. It also hasn't picked up on much that could push into Eastern areas of Ireland from the Irish sea..

Does look like a streamer event there for the Thames region, you can see the classic finger of snow through SW London and Surrey/E.Hampshire.

Still the UKV can be a little 'stingy' with convection at times inland, though not anywhere near the same extent as the ICON.

Things looking very good for Sunday and early next week, can’t believe people on the mod thread talking about a breakdown before it’s even started, I feel this cold spell will be hard to shift and expect it to get extended in the coming days, fingers are crossed for my area for the biggest. Snow fall since March 2013 good luck all

Met office outlook for our region sounds great but then I made the mistake of looking at the BBC look east forecast, allegedly updated at 7 this morning, and it is total pants by comparison.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday

Sunday will be cloudy and cold with an increasing risk of snow, perhaps with some accumulations, particularly later on. A strong north-easterly wind will add to the chill. Mostly cloudy, windy and cold on Sunday night with further snow showers in places. Monday and Tuesday look like remaining cold with easterly winds bringing further sleet and snow flurries at times.

Videos from BBC latest forecast Matt Taylor mentions concerns with "East of London" i assume including Eastern&SE parts of London eastwards with it prolonging into Monday sounds great for Essex and Kent/EA

Looks like an area between Gravesend East to Sittingbourne and SW to Maidstone and Tonbridge and parts of Essex will be the sweetspot in the SE based upon that, not many posters in here from Norfolk and Suffolk they must also be delighted after 3 barren snowless years

I'm in north suffolk! Preying it doesn't shift any more south or east. Expected big downgrades this morning from imby, but seems OK. Prob change again tomorrow though.

So, the countdown to Sunday morning is on. I’ve been trying to spot and identify signs of precursors to the cold spell incoming. Noticing it’s very still and flat calm, similar to conditions before the BFTE and March 2013. Also trying to spot any eccentric/unusual behaviour with wildlife today. All good things to try and spot for a natural perspective!
