The weather in London and the South East 56 years ago today was grey, dry and very cold. How do I know? Well, for those of us old enough to remember, what were most of us doing that morning? Answers below please.

I wasn't born but I know it was Winston Churchill's state funeral

I guessed Churchill’s funeral and after watching the coverage many times, it looked pretty cold and grey.

Thanks for this very interesting. It was my 5th birthday but can't remember it at all!

A lot of snow on the ground I'd have thought, looking at the few days before, but '65 sigh, proper winters

"A great anticyclone persisted from 23 January to 27 February" according to Trevor Harley's site. So dry and cold but not snowing? Will have to ask my dad if he remembers it, he was 14...

March looks like a fantastic month that year, started like March 2018 and ended like March 2012.

It did snow in London, I've seen a photo of  people queuing up to view Churchill's lying in state with snow falling

and here it is

This one looks like snow on the grass

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
