Really good 18z GFS, again the GFS holding utterly rock solid on this evolution.

Its the one model that hasn't really wavered from this solution yet, whereas just about all the others have wobbled at least to some extent.

Lets hope I don't regret those words in the morning!

Really classic run though this 18z!

GFS pub run special, NH vortex sliced like butter, T120:

I repeat, T120!

Wow, talk about a cross polar flow, trace back the isobar over northern Scotland, it passes through Norway, Arctic Russia, Alaska, Arctic Canada and finally Greenland.

Ain't going to be any marginal uppers in that air mass!

The beast is back on the pub run, landing D5/D6 - D7 is very very cold with more to come. Mild to the south just about kept out!

The good news for us down here is that if the evolution happens as per the GFS even a small northward adjustment puts the frontal boundary over our nexck of the woods with an offshore flow, so no need to hugely worry for coastal areas in that solution.

Certainly better run than that rubbish GEM for us though thats for sure!

Lets hope the ensembles hold steady as well.

Great 18Z from the GFS. Big temperature contrast between two competing airmasses and an explosion of snow results. Talk about tight margins though as at times you could throw a stone from the white cliffs of Dover and the stone would be in the mild air!!!

I'd say it was sucking awesome.

Yep, your namesake is no where in sight which is always a bonus!

This is hopefully the way the ECM/GEM will trend towards. The UKMO is ok on the 12z run but still a very close call.

I'm very keenly waiting to see what the ensembles will show!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
