What parts of the UK are good or bad at handling snow and wintery weather?

Depends how bad. Manchester usually falls flat at the least bit of snow, though it's a hilly place so it can vary over a couple of miles.

But everywhere has its limits.

schools never close in Edmonton.. last winter we hit -46c on one morning schools were still open
