Well finally made it outside

Thick/dense fog Vis about 250 M

No sign of freezing fog on twigs and branches but about 2mm of ice on all the snow surfaces, total depth 4 cm when I finally ventured out, feeding birds and emptying rubbish.

A  dry day with freezing fog for most of the time. There were a few sunny intervals during the first half of the morning with areas of blue sky above the fog but by late morning any sunshine was very weak and barely penetrated the fog.

A cold day. Cloudy this morning, sunny spells in the afternoon, a welcome change in a very dull month so far - we're halfway through and sunshine hours are still in single figures even after today. Maximum 4.2, minimum 0.3. Wind light variable.
