Glad some people saw snow what are peoples opinions for Friday ? Looks as though for me in Kent we will stay dry

Not a lot of hope for Friday. The Ppn will fizzle as it comes down from the North. Perhaps members more NW'ly based may get a dusting from it. But for the vast majority of the SE it will probably remain snow free. Perhaps the odd wintry shower over the weekend as winds back N then ENE. But after that temps will return to normal and we are in a W/SW'ly flow next week.

Friday looks like it's coming back to being pretty strong to the East of the UK and so could bring North Sea Showers and perhaps towards the Cold of the Night more snow.-5/-6 850hpa by 8am could mean Zonal Showers of snow.

A High is very good at resetting the mess that we're in now.

Perhaps the Low could come crashing through from Canada which could bring Low's coming down from Arctic areas which happened earlier but warmer uppers due to it being colder in January in the uppers as usual. This could also bring the expected Beast From the east.

Feels icy today. Cloudy and icy. Think we have been having rain.

Zero chance of snow at present, yay.

Just got a call from my Pal who lives in Madrid.
Heavy snow warning for the city tomorrow and Saturday.

you couldn’t make it up really.

The U.K. is the worst place to live in Europe if you want snow.
Even central, southern Spain is about to get plastered.

Nice drop of sunshine out there today...just what was ordered, better than the last couple of putrid days.

Just as I say that it starts to cloud over!...seems impossible to get more than a couple or so hours of sunshine a day never mind getting decent cold to our part of the world.

Looking likely that as the high builds in over the end of the week and into weekend that we could see some very cold nights..

Even some high res don't get us above 0c all day!! With nights dropping to - 5 - to - 6

It's a good job we are mostly staying in doors then. Not good weather to be out and about in at the moment.

Snowed  at work at 4.30 am at 200 ft, but didn't settle, but nice to see the higher elevations get a covering, bit of a joke that an easterly in the heart of winter, only gives a wet covering at around 500 ft and above, pathetic really.

Still I have finally seen SNOW!!

Not that unusual.

Madrid is inland and 2500asl.

London, for example,is about 30asl.

Interesting that Sleet has popped up consstently more than it did when temps were much lower, dosthe eqpoint typically go lower from December into January because it seems that the Deqpoints have been much lower than In December for most of January now and or wether we're factoring in the Easternly Airflow and that we could see them lower within the next dew Weeks with perhaps settling Snow in February after he reset as is shown by the Met Office Predictor although much  further north at the moment than us.

Spoiler

Early signs that after the Warming we could asee a vatient on - 10 850hpa's which could in turn bring Settling Snaw however of course accuracy is very low at this point and really could do anything.

If you are outside now or take a walk outside you can tell its going to be a cold one.

We have lost the strong easterly breeze here and grey slate skies have been replaced with clear skies.

Temps must be on the way down already..

This to me is second best to snow. The sun zero days and frozen ground staying all day proper cold dry air

The 850s might be warming up, but may I suggest people check the ground level temps down south, over the warm looking period.

Still have slate grey here, although I don't think it's coming from the east anymore. More like nne.

Afternoon all,

Temp fallen to 3.1c here in St Leonard's with mostly clear skies currently. Been sunshine and showers all afternoon, a welcome break from days of cold rain and dark skies!
