Certainly had some there, wonder if any will stay until tomorrow, expect it will freeze again tonight.

It's now stopped here as the cold front cleared away east, everything dripping wet. Was nice to see some flakes falling though. Roll on to tonight, see if anything else happens, I suppose.

Dover, we now have heavy wet snow, not landing though. The snow is very wet.

Drizzle has temporarily turned to sleet here now!

I was going to have a stroll over Abbots Ripton earlier, but went to Hilton instead.

Wonder if we will get anything later on as it heads back down south?

Seems to be quite a contrast in a short distance, it seems we are on the edge, the pictures I posted were lass than an hour ago, might still be worth the trip.

Think it sums up winter. POTENTIAL. However in the end it didn't come to fruition. Doesn't seem much coming in the next week or 2 either!

I was going to ask as on radar your under dark pink?

Screenshot_20210124-133319_Netweather Radar.jpg

Yeah, it really tried but amounted to nothing. Mainly sleet with some big flakes mixed in.

Total fail for Essex and Kent again by the looks of it but not surprised tbh!

To miss out by about 8 miles would be a sickener. Cambourne is covered.

Happened the other away around recently witn cambridge and Huntington getting snow and rain here but on a much lower scale obviously. Feel your pain

Have to laugh at Southend being in the moderate snow zone - nothing here but rain.

Thoroughly miserable.

So my official measurement is 3cm on the grass in Twickenham. Can't complain, it was impressively heavy for an hour or so this morning. Slush fest now. Will be chaos tonight/early tomorrow when it freezes.

UKV performed pretty poorly with northward extent on yesterday 12z run with today's snow band, today at 14z radar vs yesterday's 12z UKV

We did. That event was special, we had 20cm in Canterbury. Haven't had anything apart from wet snow since!

Same  netweather radar

Yeah there’s definitely something out of sync, I think it might need some recalibration of the geolocation. We were under “precipitation” for an hour here before it started snowing. Now it’s supposed to be bone dry according to the radar yet there’s still moderate to light snow.

Just rain for me in Rayleigh as the snow drought continues.  I’m always suspicious of these type of snow events as I don’t recall many landing for my area. It’s why I always look East although even that doesn’t work now as its “not the right easterly”.

Roll on Spring. At least it might stop this relentless cold rain

pleased to see many in this region have had a decent event. Enjoy folks and keep posting the pictures

Time for some wine and football

Didn't get that much down here in Dover, we joined in on the last event, starting with ice rain all morning, then a coating of snow over the top. Didn't measure it, but quite sure much less than 20cm.

It looks like the pivot point is way up near Derby. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Afternoon all

Nice to see falling snow even in lowland East London this morning and a transient covering on some surfaces so winter 2020-21 NOT snowless. Nowhere near the epics of 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2018 of course but better than nowt.

Currently +1c so a general melt has occurred - the question is how hard will it freeze tonight?

I’m not impressed by any of these models. All Winter, in fact most Winters, they’ve been next to useless. Don’t know why anyone bothers with them bar a cursory glance. Better off visiting a psychic...

It snowed non-stop for 12 hours. Was fab. I work in Dover, when I got there, people were amazed when I showed them pictures! That freezing rain was horrible. I was going to Heathrow that day, that was an experience!
