Some light sleet and snow likely later this afternoon and during the evening probably away from places south and east of London.. 1-2cm possible in one or two places.

Arome model as an example.

Flurries already appearing into the North west of the region. Expect more later. Front will likely stall around Buckingham / West Northants then pivot and spread into south of region and  exit east / fizzle out. Will be a weak affair by then but a dusting is possible

While while it was dry, and i don't mean under foot, I ti'd go out for a walk as the met office app just showed cloud all day. It definately felt cooler coming back home and i now check the met office forecast for Kenley this afternoon to see all the cloud symbols have disappeared to be replaced by it showing sleet and light snow showers now from 2 until 8pm. I guess it just shows what fine marguins things are these days and how the models are struggling.

Well it’s snowing in the SW so as king as the precipitation makes it here, it’ll snow - except maybe for Sussex and Kent where DP’s are just the wrong side of marginal.

Today has been a good day so far, cold, bright, sunny and a drying wind, rather it stays like this now than have snow, at least its usable weather and you can get out n about for walks, rather than gloomy, rainy, flood soaked yuk.

Some showers breaking out ahead of the band. I’m near Milton Keynes and can see precip falling (streaks from the clouds) but there’s very little reaching the ground. Give it an hour or so...

I just interpreted that as rain and possible sleet but glad if I’m wrong , probably just tempering my own expectations Tim . I’ll find out later as I’ll be queuing for my Covid vaccine later and hope to see some falling snow ❄️.

Far more precipitation around than many models suggested, with dewpoints just over 0ºc in our region, there could well be a covering for some people this afternoon.

That's cause it's a bit further north I think.

Just took a look at the SW England thread - reports of snow around Bristol, Bath, the Salisbury Plain even coastal Weston-Super-Mare. So not just the higher ground of Dartmoor, Quantocks and Cotswolds. I don't want to jinx things, but timing of the precipitation could be in our favour as it could last well after 4pm.

It has completely clouded over now. A bit of sunshine this morning after a frosty start. Looks like a little patchy rain/sleet is heading this way.
