I can’t believe how far north is actually got, currently it’s northern extent is north of Derby!

Massive fail for the models again, nowhere was it forcast to get that far up. Some only just put it north of the M4

Very true, this is why I think there might be some more decent ppn to come for some in the coming hours plus, with temperatures dropping away as it gets dark, anything could happen.

Yup and that’s why I called the east of London as missing out due to rain/sleet which it picked out quite accurately - though I did think there’d be a dusting especially over high ground but that didn’t happen

Ha! thats the best it got for us. Its almost passed us now. The last bit of hope for today is if it pivots like they say and comes back down, but i fear it maybe too far east of us and be fizzling away by then. Im just up the road from you in carew road, so a about 20m asl

Met office forecast dont look to good for later. Like you say fizzling out by then. Looked like just an area cloud. Maybe another system coming into cold air at the weekend but I dont think that's a good set up for us. Always seems to rain. Too close to the channel.

Just come home from box hill. Easily 7-8cm at 200 metres.

I thought about walking there but thought it would be a bit busier. Leith Hill wasn’t too bad.

Think it's what's causing the sligh warm sector that changed the light stuff over London to drizzle.

It seems like more of a wintry mix away from high ground. That said for some in the region it might be of interest as it gets dark and temperatures drop a little.

I agree, we can't rely on the forecasts and models too much, as they generally forecasted the system to be far further South than it is.

There is still some energy left in this system, it's just a matter of radar watching and nowcasting.

Well here we are, 1 hour into the NW app's 9-hour-long 'snow event'... and, you've guess it: flock all!

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I come to believe that apps (whether they be touted as 'World-beating' or not) are next to bleeding useless!

There is still lying snow here in West London, so the warm sector hasn't reached here yet and shows how localised it is.

I think there is still more to come, time will tell.

All round fail for the models. GFS was the closest. The so-called hi-res models were in chocolate fireguard country.

Absolute cannon fodder.

ECM last couple of days for this morning. Looks like a fairly good match

Front is going to pivot whilst dying out it will then head south so that stuff to the south west will go into the Chanel. Look north for this evening...

What the Aberge didn't forecast was the amount of ppn coming from the West and NW that we can see building on the radar.

Keep an eye on the radar folks!

For a high res model, not great 24hrs out

Yes ECM looked much closer to what happened today.

I'm in Ashtead (between Leatherhead and Epsom) and the pink blob had been sitting about 5m to the west for 1.5hrs then started and got about 5-6cm in 2.5hrs! Come up Epsom Downs now for a little sledge, still been very finely snowing but brightening up now.

Meto has more snow overnight so looks like it's coming back over later??!!!x

What a lovely fall you had, I bet Epsom Downs was fantastic... might just creep there if any snow is left tomorrow:) We got a few cm with very heavy snowfall for a while before it went a bit splodgy but overall very happy with our walk to the local park. Will post a few pics later. I hope loads of people got a good covering of snow, it feels like years since we enjoyed this kind of snowfall in the SW London part of town.
