Steve Murr says on twitter that the ECM is decent for us, 4-5cm in NW Kent. Soon time to just watch the radar

What is his handle? Really miss him......shall we start a vote?

I'm probably going to head to either Downs (depends on radar returns, etc) first thing with the dog as both are not that far away. I suspect they will do very well as is normally the case in these set-ups. Maybe North Downs just to reduce the marginality that maybe present further south which may impact the settling ratios a little on the South Downs.

Maybe Blackdown Hill or somewhere like that which has solid altitude or go to Devils punchbowl which also has some decent altitude in parts.

Looking at the radar position the 12z ECM is a good match.

This is good news as it probably reduces the risk for southern areas of the sleety stuff encroaching further up the coast as the time will coincide with the natural coldest part of the day anyways for a greater chunk of the region.

I don't see tomorrow being a huge event, but even 3-5cms is better than what we've seen in the last 20 months.

I’ll go with Chilterns north of High Wycombe 10cm. Think ECM is a bit far north

What about leith Hill?

I’ve lived in Surrey 53 years and didn’t  hear the term Surrey Hills until a few years ago!! I always think it’s weird as it seems quite flat around here!!!! I never know where it actually is!!!

Only GFS and ECM look good for me imby. Most of the more hi-res models show it further south.

If the front dose slow and pivot, somewhere in the region could hit the jackpot

East of you near the Kent side, and south of you toward Sussex. I love the hills, though I don't know quite which ones are in Surrey. Used to live near riddles down, although I didn't know, till my eldest was looking at secondary schools lol. There's the Purley downs, and then you have box hill and some other. Can't quite recall all the name. A 20 is a nice drive through them if I remember right, it might be a 22 I'm thinking of, lol.

Thanks

I know box hill, I guess they must have named it that a while back as I’m sure it didn’t used to have a name!! I think I’m in it technically!! My lane’s quite steep!!!

Interestingly the 12z ECM is the only model that has a pretty accurate representation of the location and forward speed of the front.

Basically the further east it is, the further north the precip shield and pivot will be.

So the 12z ECM may well be in the ballpark based on that basic analysis.

On the upside, it also means a faster front = slightly less marginality for those closer to the coast.

So maybe a bit less snow for the northern parts of the SE, but a wider area get snow, so I don't think we can complain overall can we.
