Heavy rain battering the front room window currently

Standard British winter

More like ‘modern‘  standand British weather. Certainly wasn’t this painful even back in the noughties!

Also should be noted most models keep the snow restricted to that western area of precip.

It's not here yet. As evidenced further west it's turning to snow

So very premature to assume it's a bust. As long as it holds together I'm pretty confident of snow for some areas of EA tonight. Won't be huge amounts but it should fall.

Sunday is firming up well now. Still some southern outliers which only give snow to more southern counties, but the setup is firming up far better than they did last time we had this setup earlier in the month.

I was talking about south of the M4. Any winter night that reaches freezing, one can expect ice - but is that worthy of a warning?  Freezing rain is, but general frost and ice on a expected cold winters night. Nope not for me.  Save the warning for more severe conditions.

Been a proper nice winters day here in Locksbottom.Sharp frost this morning with temperature down to -0.7 and then a glorious morning that in the sun was very pleasant. The temperature maxed out at 6 exactly but it was interesting that some frost in the shade all day didn’t melt.Had a rain shower about 6.30ish but if skies clear will be another cold night.

Temperature @8.15pm is 3.1 here.

Still a lot of uncertainty re Sunday.May know more this time tomorrow ☃️

stay safe

Heavy sleet North Stevenage  prob only about 0.5c away from snow

Was just plain old heavy rain here

Looking at radar Cambs, Norfolk could be in with a shot with the ppn turning over to snow

Elsewhere drying up and becoming frosty

I think they are OTT with the warnings to cover their selfs. As sadly if someone slips or has an "accident" on ice or a dusting of snow. It can't be an accident or their own fault and some people will look to blame someone else

Evening everyone. Looks like we may get a dusting this weekend in Surrey?

Ive just realised I’ve been on this site for about 18 years - I joined in 2003 - anyone else around from that time?

(also, am I allowed to ask what has happened to Steve Murr?)

Kind of ironic that we get all these warnings that hardly seem needed, if ever the term for todays generation as snowflakes was more apt.....

I joined in ‘03 too then created a new profile in ‘05. Used to be on the old bbc weather watch and when that shut down came onto here. I’m sure the bbc site used to shut down at 11pm every night lol. Time flies!

Been here since the first day, member number 8 in fact. And like others used to be on BBC Snow watch or Slow Watch as it was called when the Mods closed the forum every night at 10pm
