Even if tomorrow is a damp squib, it’s still mid January.

Rain has arrived here in south east Wales and its persistent and quite heavy in nature. As it crosses over the Bristol Channel it will or should suck up moisture, I'm sure the front is moving around 58pmh so should be with you around 3.26am, enjoy the ❄️and please post some photos in here and also our regional Wales group. All the best and stay safe.. Nosda

What do we reckon about the South Downs snow chance tonight/this morning?

I've seen that the North Downs looking at various forecasts and snow warnings seems to be a better spot, but I live on the edge of the South Downs at only 70m ASL but down the road there's a beautiful steep woodland where it's 240m ASL on the hill. Slightly further away about 20 mins drive to near Haslemere, Surrey, there's a spot at 270m ASL where I went walking last Sunday and the trees were beautiful....winter wonderland without snow, all rime ice/hoarfrost.

So does anyone think South Downs has a chance of accumulations on the hills?

AROME now fully going for snow across the region. Pointless looking at models now but certainly peaked my interest.

It's raining heavy here now and as soon as the frontal system hits the cold air...

Booom heavy snow for about 3 hours.

Warm air adjacent.. Rain.

What a pity. But at least you were all stranded for a while

Just popped in some of the other regionals... mostly rain or icy rain being reported, just started to rain down here on the south coast too.

It can only get better... hopefully.

Temp 4°

Very light icy rain here in Reading, but proper right on the edge of the band so far.

EDIT: We now have light snow!
