Is the 26th onwards regarding positive response from a SSW?

I think so but others are more sceptical - The charts look like they need a few weeks reset and cold building in Scandi to me

Our Ilford ‘snowstorm’ been  going for a while now. Strangely the radar initially showed the snow incoming but since it did arrive the radar  has shown nothing at all.....

Upper air parameters are virtually identical to the Kent rainfest we experienced earlier in the week. The difference this time is we have very light breezes  (less than 7mph) between the boundary layer and 850Pa that is preventing mixing through the layers. After 9pm we pick up to a 11-13 mph ENE'ly between 950-850, which increases the risk of mixing out and the likelihood of more rain in the mix. A fascinating couple of hours ahead. The radar looks tantalising !

Looking at the radar not expecting much this evening so will do a round up.

Snow 0/10

Frost 4/10

Ice Days 8/10

Longevity 8/10

Giving an average of 5 out of 10 for this Chilly Period - Lets hope the next spell can get a much better rating than this end of Jan as I still fell we will get a better attack from the NE from the 26th Onwards.

Have to agree with you Paul, frost down here has not thawed in the shade for 2 days in a row, taking the dog for a walk at 16.30 was bitter today. Hoping for a good snow event before January is out

Temperature is just not dropping here in Farnham, but I don’t think there’s anything to fall here to make a difference anyway!!

I sincerely hope at some point this winter we have so much snow falling and settling that we can look back on that radar image and laugh at the collective excitement it has brought this evening...
