2nd Ice Day in 8 days here which is impressive.

Will see how this evening goes before giving this 2 week cold spell my rating but that will rate highly in the Stats

Lot's of Boom Posts happening yet again in the Mod Thread but really boom posts are for any Snow at all pretty much. I made the mistake of seeing those and thinking Toppler's would bring 15 feet of snow. To be honest though if this SSW does bring the Snow then we could be in for something good but nothing like 2010 so really it is lamppost Watching for quite a lot of the time towards the 20th if it does come of with a dusting of snow lasting most of the day but not really high probably, unless we move to Scotland and up north.

And yet again, the apps (both NW's and the Beeb's) are about as much use a a knob in a nunnery!

Edit: And kudos to the MET Office, for refusing to provide them!

Its freezing fog being picked up by the radar

I can confirm that, all the light blue did here is make the fog thicker, but the harder ppn behind might be something.

Hi peeps

Hope everyone is well and safe. Just been lamppost watching for the last 5 minutes but absolutely nothing here in Walthamstow. According to the met update that shower activity is meant to die away unless we have a surprise. Here's ever living in hope.

stay safe all

regards

Certainly looked likely a few days back that ice days were on the cards..

Looks even colder tomorrow night and Sunday night if we have clear skies although I expect the freezing fog may limit how low Temps go in some places

still a bit too south, and i notice the movement is really really slow with no wind. probably why the fog around maidstone area is building.

Just had a walk here and it was quite strange as turned foggier again yet light snow (snizzle) falling at the same time

Yep can also confirm that now, though not at first, and not all the time. Patches of very light snow in the fog, weirdest weather ever. Oh, and it's landing too, hard to see, will look like frost rather than snow.

Some of the Mods seem more excited about the chance of Winter arriving, the Roles seem to have changed as I have been pessimistic for a while now, guesss I'd better check the charts.

Wow I actually think that we could generally get something like this pulling off, it's been on the Charts a few time now but over 300 Hours away but the timeline seems to have jumped forward to when they expect the Cold to come sinking in and now I expect that there if it stays in like this unti it's 144 hours aay is a significant chance of it being pulled off.

This is a very interesting development to say the least. Steve are things beginning to look up on the horizon could we possibly on the cusp of something. Does seem that all this mild weather coming next week with double temperatures has been watered down a bit. It's such a complex situation at the moment and small changes are happening suddenly which can impact the bigger picture.

oh I really hope and all I ask for is seeing some heavy settling snow.

Just dropped below freezing in Orpington and looking at the lampost I’m not actually sure if it’s mist blowing about or very fine snizzle?

very wintry regardless..and even if mist it stays below 0 I would hope for a white wonderland in morning with hoar frozt.

Lamppost confirms Snizzle in Southend. At last!

Individual snizzle flakes settling on the car.

I’m calling this the first official snow shield breach of the winter here.

Snowing in Canterbury!

tiny tiny flakes, but it’s a start!
actually is more like snizzle than snow but still better than the endless rain we’ve had recently

Fog seems to be descending pretty quickly here in Bromley, blowing around a bit in the lampposts lights so I guess you could call it snizzle if you were desperate aha
