If, like me, any of my fellow midlanders have model fatigue then check out John Hammonds blog here:

Snow fans are going through an emotional rollercoaster this winter but meteorologist John Hammond tries to inject some calm to the forecast.

He puts things into perspective a little bit.

Is that band of precip to the West moving earlier than modelled? If so not sure about any forecast for tomorrow now. Any thoughts?

edit- maybe not. Will bring rain no doubt!

Just cannot see the optimism with some members on the main site, where first threat of "possible" widespread frontal snowfall cannot be seen for nigh on 15 days time.

Models showing some wintry showers into north western parts of the U.K. late next week and then systems crossing the south of the U.K. from next weekend with snow on their northern edge.

Still over a weeks time (28 plus runs) from that particular model, 3 to 4 days seems to be to the maximum length time span to forecast with any degree of accuracy.

Two days ago temps were set to hit 13 plus C and now they're set to drop back down. Would love to see a decent fall so lets see how things look by the middle of next week - i hope these charts come something close to fruition.

Surprisingly been some actual sleet mixed in with the rain here as I went outside to check Some clumpy icy bits landing on my arm

Cold air all day, a frost tonight and now a very wet cold rain. It started sleety but has turned to all rain. Just the usual mild wins!

Well, much to my surprise, we have what can only be described as 'heavy sleet' here in Northampton shame it's not pure snow. The intensity is pretty heavy!

Edit: Tell a lie! It looked like sleet from the window but i've just been outside and it feels like heavy ice pellets with some flurries thrown in! The shed roof is starting to turn white. I didn't expect anything wintry from this! I'm only at 70m ASL I suspect evaporative cooling is at play here.

Pleased to see the main rain band pushed the whole way through overnight.

Just get this drizzly murk cleared now and we might actually squeak a half decent day out of it.

Also pleased about this, to think I was slightly worried about the road conditions today.

Should not have even thought about it.

For a change, I guessed about right. The front was not likely to give anything other than rain IMBY and it did. Some Snow reported out in East Anglia but also reports of rain too. Marginal is a dirty word.

Doesn't like its been much to write home about across the warning area of east anglia really. Been looking at that thread intently and anything that has fallen/settled has been so marginal it's not really accumulated a lot this morning. Think west yorkshire up towards the dales has been the sweet spot this week!

Back in the mids and its a really nice pleasant day out there, least i dont need too many layers on to go out i guess

I’m at work, got a shift that sees me all over the West Midlands today. Currently in Rugeley and the skies are clearing nicely. Should make for a decent shift.

Temperatures almost as high as the percentage forecasted for rain today.
