Does any one know if Leicester will get any snow tonight?

Probs just a dusting at best going by the models as most ppn is going west mids but again it’s a case of looking at the radar

In all honesty whilst I appreciate you taking the time to do this,, we're all well and truly in - 4 Upper air, from Northern England to southern, yet for the Midlands South the conditions are more favourable, yet we're all the same air type, looking at that id say coming off the North Sea of the winds are off the sea il have to have a look, id say we're in a safer bet hear in the mids due to the lower due points mainly been in a bigger land mass?

Newcastle Under Lyme- very light snow currently. Had a dusting over the last 45mins or so. Current temp: -0.1c dp: -0.5c Milder air mixing in behind with sleet/rain below 100m by the looks of things on radar.

Yes, any humidity off the sea will lower as it crosses more land so the midlands (and those at higher elevation) will always do better than an area next to the coast. The issue tonight is that the mixing is sufficient to MAYBE cause issues for lowland areas. Someone has already seen rain in Telford in an area around 80-100m, so it's clearly unfavourable for some.

I know I find it baffling how hard it is to see snow this cold spell its like pulling teeth, I think the areas seeing rain or sleet is due intensity.. But I notice even the ppn from northwest now seems to gaining intensity

Probably could have seen a -10C night tonight if it was clear, got down to -4.2C but has risen to -3.7C. Probably would prefer that if we just end up with a bloody dusting.

Horse shoe effect in Chesterfield.  Going to the left, going to the right. Good old Peak District sapping all the snow before it gets to us.

Snow has started here, thermometer still says -3c and is usually accurate. (Davis one). Not sure there is going to be much of anything tonight though, precipitation looks weak and getting weaker.

Constant steady and continuous dusting here.

Was watching it fall past the house light and noticed it flashing like falling glitter, so wrapped a black t-shirt around my hand and stuck it out the window, low and behold the snow is made of small 2-3mm hexagonal plates rather than the traditional flakes.

It's literally showing ice glitter outside 😁

Looks like Stoke is striking it lucky again. Snowing between lightly and moderate for the past hour. A good covering so far and a good few hours to come on the radar.
