Off on a walk towards Stone. Only about a mile from my house so far (in Lightwood) and there is snow on the cars and grass.

Turned to frizzle now.

Temperature has risen to 1,9C again. Scrap that 2.0C. Dew Point still good though at -0.6C.

Looks like a milder patch going through.

The aps both show an area of heavier precipitation coming through in about an hour which is expeted to turn to snow, and hang around for about 3 hours.

So we will see.

MIA

Interesting  - this band of 'snow' goes all the way back to Belgium and Holland and North Germany where it has been snowing for 2 days. That is where this colder air seems to be coming from.

Latest forecasts are expecting it turn increasingly wintry in this band, even to the home counties, and possibly East Anglia   (Met Office)?.

So we may be getting more yet - although it has stopped here now..

This constant rain is tiresome. I've seen milk turn quicker than this!

I've given up on this one, today. Is supposed to be turning more to snow in around 30 mins but, right now, it's not even close. 2.5c with a dew of 2c. One for the bin at lower levels, i'm afraid.

Having just said this, I can see a hint of sleet in the rain still, I don't think it will turn to snow before the band fizzles out and moves away, around lunchtime.

Sowing here but wet snow. Went up the road to White Cross and its heavy snow up there and a nice covering literally 2 minutes away.

Looks like show's over on Telford, just a light snizzle now. Oh well, last weekend was good!

By far the smallest snow ‘event’ of the winter so far, and still more than I saw most winters in London Shows what elevation does though. I’ve only walked about a mile and climbed about 20m.

Just travelled from Pelsall to Stafford. Snow when I left at 500ft and almost blizzard like conditions going over the chase. But as soon as you drop to around 350ft it’s all rain.

Im at 500ft now rain turning to snow. Maybe too far south for anything decent

It’s actually snowing quite nicely, just as well as it has during the other events we’ve seen this winter. But it’s that slight change in conditions that makes all the difference.

Big blow to the MOs reputation this. There was absolutely no need to forecast widespread 2-3 inches of snow for something so uncertain. Yes they corrected it but the first warning should never have been published. Is it just me who thinks the MO peaked at around 2018, but they've been getting worse and worse since? Some absolutely shocking mid range forecasts the last few winters.
