Snowing moderately here, not sure when it started though, but shed roofs are starting turn a little white and a bit on cars.

Up at 04:00,Ground just wet. Temperature 4.1C.  DP 0.5C ,Heavy drizzle.

Went back to bed, after looking at my app. It said turning at 09:00..

Got up at 08;15. No snow flakes, but conservatory roof showing splodges with a temp of 2.1C, DP -0.3C

Now at 8:30 just seen first flakes in a heavier burst with a strong gust.  Temp now at 1.8C with a DP of -0.6C.

5 minutes later discrete flakes showing at 1.7C.    Looks to be setting in. Still fast moving wet flakes though.

I love to watch a rain to snow event.    --- Could snow for 6 hours.

It will need intensity to settle though.

Last Sunday were excellent ground conditions as a hard frost the previous night had got temps to -4 widely

a soaking wet warmer ground today will easily wipe out 3cm of potential depth

Starting to settle on roofs now, but I think we’re going to end up with a very slushy deposit here if it does continue to settle.

ICON, ECM and Aperge still looking good for snow early next week, particularly for the northern half of the region. Just coming into range of the NMM which looks good so far too.

GEM and GFS not really interested, but the GFS is often too progressive with milder air and frontal systems.

I dunno, was dead right last week, some silly model was giving us loads of snow Thurs, where as GFS has 11 degrees, also last tues, was dead right

It seems anything birmingham westward ATM for snow.

Currently in coventry and it's heavy rain here with the odd sleety interval

11 miles south at 500ft just rain

Has been a sleety mix here for almost an hour now, refusing to turn to snow.  I'm at 145m, maybe too low of an elevation for this event.  I'll have to go for a walk later and find the snow I guess

Can’t decide whether it wants to sleet or snow in Bearwood. But I am sure the undercutting  colder air will turn it to snow soon.

It’s a real shame, as if it was just slightly colder in the lead up to this event it could have been another Feb 2007

Don't forget you're a bit further south and its moving down from the north.

Also west of Bham is a bit higher (100m's?)I am at 85Mhere and its turning now.

150m here & turning increasingly to snow here, but not particularly heavy so far so can’t see anything settling for now.

I think we’ll see a spell of snow giving a few cm before turning a little milder. Along the lines of the Met Office warnings but expect the length and size of area covered by them to shrink over the next few days as confidence increases.

Then it looks colder but drier to end the week. Some snow showers, mainly in the east.

Guys I cant believe we lucked out again this truly has been a Midlands Winter so far. If it sticks or not just to see snow falling again is incredible. Virtually every time the Midlands has been the place to be wether we have had falling snow or 15cm lol. Met say heavy snow until 4pm here we shall see if it sticks I think we need full on blizzard for that.

MIA,

Any where south west or west of Bham city centre is great for elevation 170m+ generally.

It has made such a difference so many times in past.

MIA,

GFS got this.

Both the P and OP have had it  floating up and down around our area for the last 3 days.

I am afraid to say that the ECM moved it away yesterday and hence the warnings were removed from most of the area.

It is clear that the M.O./ BBC Midlands  use ECM exclusively for any warnings. They are frequently up to 12 hours late with the data.

They take the last run, unless at 18;55,when Shefali pitches it!!

MIA

Its quite interesting - I have 2 apps. One based upon ECM (MO) and the other based upon GFS.

They  have been interesting to watch the last 2 days.

EDit Gone lighter now but is stillsnow.

Would describe it as 40% snow,60% sleet

Temp now at 1.6C with the DP at =0.7C
