Happy snow day evreone.❄❄❄

Glad all the Midlands got snow. Nice few hours in the hills sledging and enjoying a nice snow walk with the family. To the one dude concerned earlier I went with family and stayed in my family bubble and avoided people.

Looks like its coming back down to leave a few more cms widely across the mids might push me close to a wopping 15cms.

Models are hinting at a repeat performance next weekend also lol.

Make the most of it guys and girls especially in these tough times we deserve some Joy with our family and nothing better than making a snowman or sledging. ⛄⛄?

Well, I wasn’t expecting this! I believed that the precipitation wouldn’t reach the central Mids, let alone the North Mids - a great surprise! So glad lots of us managed to get some snow particularly those in the east (Northamptonshire, Leicestershire) who haven’t seen as much as Stoke or W.Mids.

One thing I’ll take from this event is not to discount the GFS/ECMWF in favour of high res. They have performed very well.
In terms of the best High-RES model that has to go to WRF-NMM which consistently predicted a more northerly route.

As of 16:30, I have 9cm of snow, with snow falling since morning although light. Not quite December 2017 Slidergate levels but still an appreciable amount. Obviously, the MO warning was somewhat on the low side with some areas seeing 15cm+

In regards to whether an Amber warning should have been issued I personally don’t think so. As Rob mentioned its a Sunday under national lockdown so the impact not as great.
Enjoy the snow all!

Been a brilliant afternoon here. Started snowing about 1300 and still going now. Just measured 13cm in the garden. Been up to the park with the kids (I guess sledging is classed as "exercise" right?)

Amber warning for North Mids! Interesting day so far! Still odd light snow here. Hope it picks up later!

Still very light here, may be in the centre of the depression.

So the amber finally comes out (still not convinced by the validity of one) however isn't the worst set to move south now?!

potentially, suppose the next 20minutes will tell us.

Yeah it's hard to tell with the sky as its naturally starting to get dark now. Might not look at the radar as its becomes obsessive and its not showing good stuff for us

It really has been some event hasnt it? Still excited to see if we can get another cm or two this evening (Expecting it to weaken a fair bit) but id say a number of spots have got 10cm give or take by the end of the day, and obviously blythe bridge over to derby/nottingham probably 15cm on average! Power of balance right there, we're all fairly well even stevens
