Much better GFS 18z for the Midlands.  More of a direct easterly. Streamers right across the Midlands

Still looking good man!!18z gives us 6 days in a row of temps below 0 during the day!!the big band of snow seems to be pushing south for sunday but never fear we got snow showers coming in of the north sea so all is not lost!!

Sorry - Interloper from the Yorks and Lincs thread - how's this for a graphical interpretation of a streamer?

By far the snowiest model run for Stoke so far. Lots of streamers perfectly aligned. That’s the flow I need if I’m to not miss out!

Personally not getting my hopes up for this one  Coming from the wrong direction for northern S-o-T.  It'll all get dumped on the moors and we'll be in the dry shadow like normal up 'ere.  Might get some blow dusty stuff if I'm lucky though.

Need a bit of luck with the exact wind direction and some troughs and streamers to beef up the showers.

I’d put the GEM as the model of choice for this event, just because it has the north west  Midlands as one of the snowiest areas

Some of those streamers might even make it over me. Would be a shame if Sunday's low went further South so the SE got nothing but dry cold and we get all the showers

Things looking good for the north and east mids. For us w midlanders we need a good old classic atlantic attack and to stall right over us..can't see one yet but heres hoping!

Not at all   if you get stuck under a streamer  you will see copious amounts of snow.  Its just very hit and miss who sees them.

With the last 2 easterly 2018 and 2010 here in coventry we missed out big time

yep very hit and miss   the angle this time looks better  if we can get anything  close to a flatish easterly   it could be very good.  With no high ground anywhere to the east  showers should fly in.   if it north east  we may struggle.  Of course thats without troughs  fronts etc

Being a Moorlanders easterlies usually driver here! Other than the other Sunday even we haven’t seen much lying snow here this winter overall whilst my sister in Meir Heath has had quite a bit!

Perfect wind alignment for yorkshire and the midlands! Surprised and also encouraged the 18z has picked up on this. Has to be a strong signal for a model of this resolution

In Dudley.  Look at BBC all yellow by Wednesday.  Da.p squb I say.  Models over playing this.  Atlantic onslaught soon.

I disagree with your view on the models. Irrespective, noting your last comment - bring it on! Could amount to some staggering snowfall totals. There is now way the Atlantic blows through this kind of setup without significant resistance, a stall would be inevitable - the question is; where. Classic battleground scenario if FI verifies. Many changes will verify between now and then, though.

Fantastic weekend coming up regardless, reinforced until Wednesday at the earliest. Anything beyond that is FI.
