This sort of reminds me of an event in Feb 2005 when a system moved in from the SE. Just snowed all day but no settling

24th Thursday, it actually was a thaw

That heavier band getting closer, light snow has started.

Signs of it turning to snow on the northern edge.

Cold air cutting in.

Agreed, we can clearly see that on this radar, let’s hope we all see them deeper pinks encroaching further and further South

Whenever the subject of failed snow events comes up Netweather, people name them, someone in a different area disagrees and says that one wasn't a fail, or someone says it wasn't expected to be much..... and then somebody says February 2005 and everyone agrees, from all over the country.

That spell really is legendary isn't it?

Back to today it actually seems to have got lighter, although its still snowflakes. Oh maybe not, but probably just wind whipping them again. Such a waste of snowflakes to see it not trying to stick when temps/dp/uppers seem to be lower enough to allow it, but its not even close to Feb 2005. This has been 2 hours of it, that was 2 weeks.

After some promise earlier the heavier bursts just aren't settling so I think settling snow is unlikely. It does feel raw with a brisk wind and snow blowing in your face.

Such a shame this didn't come at night when ground was much colder. About 3 hours of heavy snow. But as soon as it eases a touch it melts so quick.

Nothing all day here in my area of SoT, just slightly damp from the overnight rain we had.  But other than that not even drizzle here.  Radar is lying for me again

Starting to stick on roads now   much bigger flakes

You know you say bigger flakes, in which I’ve had here but the thickness isn’t there, it’s like I’ve got big fluffy flakes but they are too wide apart blowing about in the wind from each other to do anything regarding it settling, therefore it looks the part but my poor surfaces are just wet

Just been driving around Dudley area, the snow line is around 200m but you need to get to 250m plus around Oakham area before it is a truly white world. Even up there settling snow is probably only 5cm or so which is quite low given the volume of snow that has fallen.

Been light snow in south Stoke all day. A dusting in Lightwood earlier but nothing elsewhere.
