It’s actually snowing quite nicely, just as well as it has during the other events we’ve seen this winter. But it’s that slight change in conditions that makes all the difference.

Gord just been to White Cross dont know if you know it and they have a good covering up there. It literally a 2 minute from me lol. Shows how close it is to be a nice snow event.

Big blow to the MOs reputation this. There was absolutely no need to forecast widespread 2-3 inches of snow for something so uncertain. Yes they corrected it but the first warning should never have been published. Is it just me who thinks the MO peaked at around 2018, but they've been getting worse and worse since? Some absolutely shocking mid range forecasts the last few winters.

I don't know why they jumped the gun on this, either. There was far too much model disagreement for today, when they put the warning out on Wednesday/Thursday. I was never confident on the 4-7cm they were forecasting. Good job as well, otherwise i'd have been bitterly disappointed

Same with Monday's possible event. They've gone for a snow and ice warning here for Northampton and I fail to see that materialising either. Most of the models go for a short-lived snow to rain event for the North Midlands. Not a chance here.

Cold rain here, not even a hint of sleetiness, 2.4 °C. Quite breezy too. Grotty all round. Would have been very happy with frost and sunshine, but this is just drab.

Still just sleet here, nothing heavy. Not surprised warning was cancelled for this area. It’s one up from rain to me so thats a thing

Well, much to my surprise, we have snow here now not remotely close to settling on the previous 4 hours of rainfall, but, it's nice to see I'll take it at this stage!

Conditions are changing here too now..

Turned back to all small flakes snow (as reported at B'ham Airport).

Temp here has now dropped to 1.5C   (after 1.7C and then 2.1C earlier).

More important is that the dewpoint has now started falling to -1.2C. My wind chill has now dropped to -1.6C as well.

I think this bodes well for places further west than here for some snowfall this pm..

MIA

Edit now larger flakes and 1.3C.

Things are changing for the better  first of all my temps have dropped from 2c to 1.1c and it’s snowing, wet snow but it’s defo snowfall and the radar is showing that more pinks on offer now ❄️

But what I’m hoping is the heavier stuff to my south that is projected to be over me in an hour or so

Still a mixture here, won't be any need for a ruler - maybe to measure the depth of the puddles.

Starting to turn to sleet in Evesham now.   Not sure anything will settle even if we do get heavy snow later - had 13.5mm of rain this morning!

Hi MIA, your dew point seems a little low, I've have it at 0.2C here, I tend to find with light snow it needs to below 0C for the snow to stick and around 0.8C ish with heavier snow
