Thawed loads here. Weird how areas lower down and further south that are normally warmer than here are colder today.

Was brilliant today out and about delivering roads were ok side roads abit dodgy had some fun with the handbrake.

Pity that it is thawing pretty fast for the most part. It is so beautiful round here really was in the sweetspot yesterday after always complaining.

Happy now this is the best we have done for many many years.

Temps are falling away here 1.8c at the mo got upto around 3c. We had a very brief but annoying rain shower which sped up the thaw slightly.

A nice freeze tonight but looks like the end from tomorrow.

Beautiful day today especially with the sun making the snow sparkle and shine.

A little thaw but not too much, mainly just some roofs and main roads.

Are we heading into a mild period after tonight?

They all seem to be going nuts in the mod thread from the gem in Fl that are so up and down there it's cray.

Shows a scandi high and a BFTE.

Is this going to be a few days of mild coming or a couple weeks of rain and horribleness?

Ok so a week or so before any chances.

Nice one thanks.

Pity this period now did not last a couple days longer even with just cold and no snow.

Yes a brief milder interlude tomorrow onwards but I won’t be surprised if a snow event crops up in the next 7-10 days out of the blue.

Models do tend to overestimate the Atlantic lows blasting through

There was nowt in Newcastle mate. Only person get snow yesterday in the whole of Stoke on Trent was Matt lol.

A fair bit left in Parksite up from Silverdale last night, but that was from Wednesday nights Snow lol

That last sentence was on about the little pop up shower that came over about 4'ish hours ago, today.

Gave a min or so of sleety drizzle as it passed over Chesterton/Newcastle according to my mother.  There was another one about 30 mins later that came over me and gave about a 30 second drizzle.

Not too much melt especially in shaded areas but the footfall on some paths means the surface is quite smooth which will be interesting later. Plenty of untouched spots in the park and lots of big snow mounds where people have rolled big balls up. They could last past the mild spell potentially!

Rob,

Yep ,,,,,,cleared the surface snow off my drive.

Left the snow packed down by the car tyres. (- being lazy and with my jab yesterday was a bit stiff)

Expected the rest (the tracks)  would melt over the course of the afternoon as the temperature rose.

Wrong  - it has frozen solid without any melt at all.

I have got a weekly delivery tonight. I hope he doesn't have an accident!!

After my temperature gauge reached 3.2C, I was quite surprised that in the shade there was no melt. (ie below zero)

Tonight I am recording -0.4C now on its way down to -4,0C I expect.

Same here, no melt the side road outside my drive is hardened snow that now acts just like ice, it was like that this morning when I left for work, then when I returned around 4pm to my surprise there was no change....⛸

Another cold one tonight -1c just now.....

Just been for the evening dog walk and it's lovely outside. The air feels much colder than last night and the snow is like diamond dust when you kick it. And actually most side roads are still snow packed so the melt in the sun today must have been minimal.

Curious tomorrow how long it all lasts, will it get washed away in an afternoon!

Snow cover absolutely decimated here. From winter wonderland to just patchy snow cover. It seems to have been much milder here than most places today but even when we’ve had temperatures below freezing and full cloud cover in the middle of winter, we’ve still seen considerable snow melt. I don’t understand it.
