Speaking of an ice age....  (i heard you calling!)

I've been applying the car wheel test to judge the rate of falling snow.

At the peak it took just 2 mins to fill in the  track marks. Its now taking 4 minutes and it still is coming down so that I do not need my lamppost to see it.!!

Really incredible rate of snowfall here now.  Temp now stuck at 0.5C

Let hope it is still around tomorrow as sledging at Elmdon Park would be very nice.

MIA

I’ll let ya know, I’m on my way there now with my 11 year old daughter

How is it when the radar is full of rain it’s always heavy rain and yet when it suppse to snow it’s bone dry ... the radar shows very heavy precipitation above my area and nothing yet if it was rain be sure it will be hammering down

South mids looks good for Sunday. Although they stressed very unsure how far North it will be. Nice gif from Welsh thread demonstrates most likely Northern extent.

UKMO, UKV and GFS all take it further north. I’ve seen a few people in here writing Sunday off when it’s far from a done deal.

A nice little surprise tonight. Thought there may have only been rain or sleet (perhaps sorta bordering into very wet sleety snow), but wasn’t expecting full on snow. Nor for it to settle.

To be fair, it did seem to start as rain and once the heavy stuff (snow) passed through it tended to become sleetier again, partly melting the 1 to 2cm covering that’s occurred here

Surpassed my expectations a bit, though

It’s much stronger as it crosses the Midlands. That image just shows how far east it gets before stalling and then fizzling out. It gives a good few cm for some.
