Much of the snow has survived the night here. Just a bit bare on some of the roads and pavements.

Continual risk of wintry showers the next few days, particularly across the north and west of the region but maybe more widespread at times.

Some models (e.g. ECM and Netweather’s in-house model) bring a trough across the Midlands over the weekend, giving snow widely across the region. Other models have it south of the U.K.

Images - Early next week, frontal systems look to push in from the Atlantic. Some models (e.g. GFS) blast it through with mostly rain across the region. Maybe some blink and you’ll miss it snow in the north. Others (e.g. Netweather’s in-house model) have the front bringing heavy snow before stalling and pushing back south. Snow mostly for the North Midlands but it wouldn’t take much of a correction southward to bring more of the region into play, and that does often happen.

great event last night! turned to heavy snow with flick of a switch, full whiteout on flooded ground was amazing, all thawed now though

Sat snow looks off, Sunday iffy, then Tuesday up in the air, but more likely at this stage an E Midlands day

Not the best from models today short and longterm downgrades. Sat/Sun snow risk looks to far North now. Need further corrections South on next run or i fear we are looking at Mid Feb for next snow potential.

Models are completely all over the place in terms of the finer detail over the next few days. They struggle with such small features.

Snow survived surprisingly well overnight considering the temp didn't drop despite clear skies, drier air might have helped. Still full cover on the grass and some on the tarmac at 9, but going quickly now where the sun is on it like it were April. But another day of lying snow, 3 now this winter. Next milestone, to get snow cover lasting to a second morning!

I’m up to 15 days of snow cover now. Average for here is 10 days per winter. Still quite a lot of last night’s snow left.

Still lots left away from the roads and pavements. We’re normally a degree or so colder up here.

Probably because the latest ECM shows a front coming through.

Not looking too good for south midlands, I’ve watched the snow chances slowly ebb away as we approach T0. Something must come this way at some point because I’ve bought a Mercedes GLA 250 4matic.

Anybody else just seen the latest bbc forecast talking about a band of showers possibly crossing the Midlands later tomorrow - in the words of Chris Fawkes “something a bit more exciting “
