Euro4 shows the risk of sleet and snow for a time tomorrow, turning back to rain from the west. Little if any accumulation away from the extreme east of the region.

All weather apps had and have  Belper under a decent - 2 frost last night with temperatures struggling to scrape over 0 degrees today. The reality is, even on the highest 200 metre plus ground in the locality there is no ground frost to speak of. Frustrating and perplexing. Childish I know but, for someone of my age - 48, to live in modern Britain where even to get ice on high ground in January seems a desparate marginal struggle, it's like the fundamental physics of the Earth have changed! Grrr.

Any flakes tomorrow around 4am, so really not worth it, even if it lies, gone by light 7am

2 GFS runs now to show the cold arriving next Fri, too far away to be definite, this shows bone dry wishbone northerly

hahah Hinckley is literally on the cusp of the weather warning!  Parts of Leicestershire are in - Hinckley is Out!  I have no hopes anyway, we have missed all events this winter, we had a dusting that lasted a short while before melting and that's about it !!!

True, really nice straight line down past Earl Shilton down, missing Cov too.  Leicester is in.

You never know, might see something wintry fall but really not holding out on this one. Looking at EURO4 etc has precip over us tomorrow but we have been here before!

While the south easterners are planning their early morning snowy dog walks, there might be an advantage for us as a result of tomorrow’s front going too far east for us.

As it clears, we might get some afternoon sunshine while in the milder air.

Imagine that, mild AND sunny. Now that is a rare occurrence for this winter.

And before you all start asking, “What’s good about that?” Well I’m getting older and like a bit of sun now and again and am a bit fed up of the short supply of it this week.

And  it’ll only be for a couple of hours if it happens.

So

So

would normally like that, but not in quarantine, keep low pressure/snow rain battles going until back in tier 3, hopefully not bloody April

Correct me if I’m wrong but even if it does snow, and even less likely settle, isn’t it just going to rain on the back end as the front heads east?

Personally all I’m expecting is a very wet morning followed by a dull and cloudy afternoon.

Met Office Outlook:

’From Thursday onwards rather cold and unsettled conditions look likely for most of the UK, northwesterly winds will bring frequent showers, particularly to north and west-facing coasts, falling as snow over high ground and also down to lower levels at times. Atlantic low-pressure systems are expected to cross the south of the county at times, bringing rainfall and periods of slightly milder temperatures, and there will be a risk of snowfall on the boundary between the mild and cold airmasses. Northern and central areas are more likely to be affected by wintry hazards during this period’.

Potential Cheshire Gap streamers and battleground snow events. Plenty to keep us occupied during the next few weeks of lockdown ☺️

Cold out there, nearly an ice day here with a high of 0.4C. Trending back down but obviously expecting a rise in the early hours.

After sunny periods earlier today the fog, which was always present a little lower down, has spread up the hillsides since mid morning, accompanied by a steady fall in temperature.  Current temp' is -2.5c.

Back below freezing here now. Amazes me how quick the air can warm up when initial conditions are very conducive of snow.

A few flakes  maybe in the morning  other that not alot  thank goodness for that snowfall end of Dec

Absolutely. Also good to know we’re completely out of it so no pressure. Just grab the (breakfast) popcorn and watch the highs and lows unfold in the south east and East Anglia thread.
