All about the extra height I guess, think at around 160m I am around 0c so no melt either. However looking in the Yorkshire thread there is rain at 200m near Sheffield so sadly the writing is probably on the wall. Precipitation is definitely heading more East to West than North to South in any case though.

Temp at 0.3C in Halesowen, 0.4C in Dudley

Dewpoints at -0.1C

Overnight snow has left an accumulation of around 2cms which is still in place, except for roads where traffic has started a melt (no to say there isn't black ice about!).  Forecasted snow showers for the rest of the day and looking at the models, that looks like a good shout in my opinion.  Not expecting to see any great accumulation but we'll see!

Plenty of dripping outside, looks like everything has been squeezed from the straws - snow that is!.

Surprised to wake up and see a sprinkling of snow on the ground after all that frustration last night, only a cm or so but it's full cover. Looking at the radar it seems to be that band to the SSE of the clump over Wales that did it. And it was just in time for 9am so 2021 at least will not be a year without snow lying!

More tonight? Not being greedy but the M6 corridor owes us at least another 2 or 3 snowfalls

I must live in the only place in Shropshire that has not seen snow! Madness! Roll on summer and the grey clouds! Yawn!

Slightly less cold air further east. Not a worry further west.

Yeah I think I would have preferred a -10C night last night than the dusting we have and will likely end up with today.

Wetter in Solihull this morning, with a temperature that has climbed to 0.8C..

Surprisingly 5 mins ago it started to snow!!

Big fat wet flakes, although getting a bit smaller now. Wasn't expecting this until later.

It's actually drizzling outside at approximately 180m asl.

Very little movement in that area of weather over the N of England, just hanging there.

Just been out with the Dog and it started to Drizzle.. Slight rant, yesterday METO app forecast 9 odd hours of snow for today.   Models suggested PPN might not be far enough East etc.. Last night, bit of light snow.  This morning, frost melting and drizzle. No sign of that band of PPN to the North getting anywhere near. Rant over, feel better now. Coffee, toast and back to work!

Absolutely nothing in my area of Stoke,  even the dust from last night is gone.

Strange. Still a good cm or so of last night’s snow here. That’s probably it for snow from this cold spell. That area of precipitation to the north doesn’t look like dropping south, like the models previously showed it would.

Yeah bit of a slushy mess outside now, was about 1cm on the pavements when i took the dog earlier, but the majority of snow has now melted on pavements and in town. Looks like thats our lot then for this cold spell, lets just see what the models show in a week or sos time once theres a full grasp of how the SSW will play out.

Started snowing again here. Small flakes though, thought it might just have been drizzle at first but there's defiantly distinct flakes in it. Might just be sleet?

whatever it actually was it's stopped again now as I was typing.

Seems to just be in the slightly heavier bursts it's all snow I think, still a bit coming down but I think it's more sleet than anything.

Would take a lot to add anything now though as last nights big dusting is already starting to thin out.

the thaw here now, safe to say this one is over, decent effort though, snow on ground from 28th Dec to 8th Jan, signs on EC of next cold spell starting around 15th, but miles too far out

Still no significant thaw and has now been snowing for the last 5 mins heavier than at any point yesterday evening - radar seems to developing precipitation around our area a bit as well. Interesting!
