Not sure how snow manages to fall onto frozen surfaces and melt.

Defo something is wrong with those charts!!!dont go with the snow charts at all!!!surely someone can explain this?

Well,

the cold spell has been here for 2 weeks already ,

The afternoon of wed23rd the temp dropped off and apart from a brief less cold period on Boxing Day local to me has been cold since !
so that’s 14 days  5 days of snow falling

and snow on the ground ( only patches now and a poorly snowman) for 10 days and counting !
and seeing as the depth was never more than 3 cm that’s impressive in my book .
todays light snow covered most of the region and was a pleasant surprise

maybe a surprise on Friday and who knows ..... drag the spell on and on...

Sarah did mention something a bit more significant for the Midlands on Friday too on the 10 day forecast.

Bits of very fine sparkly snow floating around where it’s foggy. Need a lamp to see it though. Very pretty.

Just got home from a very cold night shift. Phone was busy though as those i work with had picked up on the word Snow whilst having breaks. A little bit of private Jones in the calls.

Checked all the model's i know of and to be honest there is a really good reason they call it nowcasting when snow is involved. Radar watch is always best for this type of weather event.

Hope you all see some, in the next 24 hours or so.

Feels very wintery out there this morning -6c at the moment. Hoping we get at least a bit more snow tomorrow followed by one last cold day (for now at least) on Saturday.

Beautiful winter morning. Early freezing fog clearing to blue sky, hard frost and 11 day old partial snow cover.

Not all precip predictions look great for the Midlands but the NMM is one that does. Two spells of light snow maybe leading to a few cms or so.

Beautiful frosty morning out there. Been a while since we had one this good, everything looks like it's been in the freezer.
