Isn't it snow all the way through and then sub zero temperatures for the majority on Sunday night?

    Transient = short period.

Although it'll be rain here, which I'd prefer. There's nothing exciting about seeing a few snowflakes mixed with rain.

That's true. Do you think other parts may do well?

Doesn't work for me not sure why. What other places are mentioned? And do they say the likelihood of it?

That's odd, not sure why mate... but Wales is included too. "There is the potential for some snow, even to relatively low levels for parts of Wales and SW England on Sunday morning."

He does stress the uncertainty though, but when is there ever certainty.

Looking for just up the road from here. Rain sleet and the odd bit of snow for my location. Just add 200 metres and its a winter free for all!

That's not accurate for the hilly part of west dorset, based on what is shown there will be no snow at 200-300 m.........

It's the perfect word to represent the weather on Sunday.

Salisbury/Winchester/Basingstoke and up towards Swindon look great for a couple of hours of heavy snow on the 18Z UKV.

So it's your take on what will happen and your word transient only being used by you.....

Yes, being used by me. If you can show me a chart that shows a long period of snow for our region during Sunday, then I'll retract it. Until then, it is transient.

I think the appropriate word is, "Sour puss". 😂😂😂

I'm not entirely sure what your motives are here? But it isn't working.

It seems to be that you have a bee in your bonnet about other members in the region getting snow?! But, whether it's rain or snow, the event is transient. It's what the models show, and well, the forecast too..

Surely alll weather is transient.. Weather changes from one type to the next.  Might not be snow to rain but it will end which ever weather type occurs on sunday.

I cannot believe I'm being pulled up for using the word "transient"?

I think some of you need a timeout if you're getting worked up over that.

It may not be nescicarily transient if its all snow event though mapNtz. Some in region may get lucky.

The context was used in relation to the length of time of an 'event' not what falls from the sky.

Hey all, just literally decided to join the regionals, in anticipation of potential snow on Sunday...been following the main winter discussion so far (yep you guessed it, all looks potentially nailed/stonking/promising in 10 days from now...😉).....but within 60 secs of reading (in excited anticipation) I am really disheartened by some of your jibes at one another....

Be it rain, sleet, snow...kitchen sinks'...we have (potentially) an interesting February on the cards...let's in the meantime be nice to oneanother... sit back, grab a beer, and hit the radar refresh key with your bottle opener...

    Our time will come... 😁

I realise that and we would all love a 2 day blizzard that leaves us 6 feet under but after several starved years enough for a snowball fight would satisfy most currently..   I can't even go abroad skiing this year to find it!

I couldn't give a toss about where it snows , I'm a grown up unlike most on this forum who get upset by amateurs pretending to be meteorologists........no motives on my part!!

Chill. Regionals are for relaxed chat, this kind of talk is not appreciated and not welcome.

Patchy cloud with another lovely frost this morning. Winter BBQ for lunch.

Arome 0z still fancies it down here, for tomorrow morning.

Great news! The Met downgraded me now to sleet turning to rain.......

Luckily we’ve got a day for that to change yet 🤨

Meanwhile a frosty (and probably icy start, thanks for the evening showers) with mostly clear skies.
