I think the Lambourne Downs to the North East of me are blocking the heavier stuff getting through. Doesn't seem to get any further than Oxford except for a finger of heavier stuff making it to Swindon down the A420!

I was remaining quite optimistic about the prospects of getting some snow this week, but this is waining fast. Not a hint of any snow making it this way according to the latest weather report on Sky and the Beeb and its back up to 10 degrees by next Monday

I really can’t blame CentralSouthernSnow for ‘logging off’ this winter at all, and agree with him, a light dusting is nothing to get excited about. I love cold weather, but I love the snow more and to have cold without snow, is like having the spring without the bird song

It’s funny how the rain never fails to make it to these parts, no matter what direction it’s come from

I’ll keep dipping in and out of here and the mod thread but I’m not expecting any change, any time soon...

Just had another light snow spell for half hour pass over.
The NE wind is still 12mph with plenty of 18-20mph gusts.
Temp has with that last spell dropped back below 0, now -0.2c.

Looking like something more heading our way around 5pm if the radar forecasts stay true.

So I learnt a new word today... graupel!

I’m under that Swindon streamer & am having  graupel showers varying in intensity. Just took the dog for a walk over the gallops (near Avebury) and can confirm the ground is frozen & the wind could indeed ‘freeze the b***s of a brass monkey’ lol!!
Would be lovely to get some proper snowfall on top of it. Fingers crossed🤞

I've had lots of snizzle this morning. Gone quiet out there now though. Good thing I need to go teach some kids ... wish me luck - Ha! ~ *Slacking Teacher*

Couldn’t agree with you more about when rain comes in the matter what direction it derives from it seems to reach.

thunderstorms and snow always seem to be A law into them selves.

Looks quite dark over the back though or is that your camera?

There is also alot more back building behind that too.

The streamer which is currently stretching further than Wells is not moving over the Plain. Everything approaching further South is breaking up. We’ve had flurries in Warminster  from Stratocumulus but almost unbroken sunshine too.

Humidity is much higher to the west of the flow that is going to fall quite quickly soon. Might help push it more south west.

    You seem quite knowledgeable.

I have a question regarding the orange intensity over Milton Keynes.

how come this is not moving with the flow from east to west but the lighter stuff is , but the orange echoes seem to be hovering over the same spot. How is that possible when there are no hills or mountains to keep it fixed on those areas.
    thanks

Hopefully I'm not the only one helping wildlife in our gardens during this freezing cold weather at the moment, lots of stunning goldfinches on  the feeders, feel sorry for them out there in that bitter wind!

It's an almost stationary decaying upper warm front.

    Surprised our Cornish folk haven't brought up the 06z high Res Arome model;

Just looking at that now funnily enough, Possibly land height, the chiltern hills maybe causing it, just trying to bring up a few sat images.

The BBC app continues with the weather porn that never happens. Judging by that we'd have a few inches here by the morning but I bet we'll have nothing. The little tease.
