North-eastern corner has breached 4C as of 11pm = 3.9C.

1C drop in less than 25mins = 2.9C in the heavy precipitation now. Still rain, obviously.

Cracked open the blackberry whisky to herald the start of this cold spell.

Let's hope that can rapidly turn to snow. Wouldn't be surprised.

It's so lush! Made a bumper batch last year as there were so many blackberries. It's normally gone by Christmas but found a few bottle I'd hidden

is it going to sink south this front?-sorry complete novice!

Yes. Think you said you were in Taunton? So the stuff around Oxford and northwards (if it makes it!!) should be heading your way.

GFS 18Z, run of the bloody century, absolutely bitterly cold right out to the end of the run. Absolutely insane that run!, don't think anyone has seen anything like that in the Internet era.

Just had this band come through - all rain from what I can make out - main zone of interest is to come (hatched area).  Could be a dusting by the morning... but suspect temps will be too high for anything to survive overnight... we'll see....

Really liking the synoptics being forecast and starting to get excited about what looks like some properly cold weather, snow aside, that would be a bonus. I'm getting flashbacks of February 94, although a transient beast, I recorded a max of - 2.5C on the 13th. Not expecting snow here tonight or a max of - 2.5C in the coming days but who knows?!

Never occurred to me that Broad Street in Oxford City Centre, close to the River Thames would have a 20-25 metre higher elevation than where I am (5-10 miles south, close to the River Thames). Makes all the difference even negating the urban heat island compared with my edge of town/50 metres from the countryside location.
